mrsathletic
Hello. I'm pretty new to Fallout New Vegas though I have played Fallout 3 in the past. For some days I now play FNV with mods, almost entirely installed with the newest version of FOMM. I also have NVSE (stable version) installed as well as the two official DLCs. During playing I get regular crashes on saving and entering buildings/cells. The crash is always followed by an error message "Fallout NV has stopped working" or so. Then I'm back on the desktop. I tried so many ways to fix this, I almost lost my hope. But I do not want to bury my head in the sand before asking here, maybe someone more experienced can give me a hint. I already tried disabling large mods like Electric City, A World Of Pain, IWS, Real Time Settlers etc. without results. Thanks in advance to everyone. KenshinX12
I usually try to keep my mod usage, low, to avoid crashes, but here is a small suggestion. You have 2 electro-city ESPs, right at the bottom of your mod list, try moving those 2 up under the .esms. Edit: Heck in a second, I'll re-organize your entire list and lets see how your game runs with my mind sorted version. Also: You should probably disable: SMOTS - EC, if I'm right, that would be SMOTS-Electro-city Compatibility patch, right? I would believe that NVR-Electro-city and Smots, would make them compatible already. (I'm not positive thought, as I don't use: SMOTS or Electrocity.) Another thing: Project Nevada's newest version, has its own sorter. So if you plan on upgrading, I recommend ditching your current sorter. Would anybody, mind clarifying, what UHNV is?. tunaisafish
During playing I get regular crashes on saving and entering buildings/cells. Toggle autosaves. (If you havn't already tried that)
Terrahero
Its very hard to tell wich mod, if any, is causing the issues for you. For me it was NVB and Rust Town for some odd reason, despite having used both of those perfectly fine in the past. So i think patch v1.3 also messed things up. Im afraid your pretty much looking for a tailor-made fix just for you. If you are convinced its a mod, just make a clean instal and add a bunch of mods. Play, see if the problem persists, if not, add more mods. Dont do all of em at once, and try and do big mods on their own. This will find you the mod thats causing trouble, but its a time consuming proces. Heck, it might also turn out that if you do it like this suddenly all problems are solved. As for the load order. BOSS is not a rule, just a suggestion. You have to keep checking, it will sometimes put stuff in a weird load order. For me it didnt put Nevada Skies all the way at the bottom so it didnt work (properly) as that mod is really strict about that.

I did as you supposed but without result. Game was still crashing at saving or entering a building. UHNV is the "Underground Hideout NV 3.8" which is a player's home. Really awesome, best I've seen so far. Some bugs though about sorting all the items into containers but neglectable. This mod is great. During playing I get regular crashes on saving and entering buildings/cells. Toggle autosaves. (If you havn't already tried that) Yes, I did. Crashes still occur despite this option turned off. For me it didnt put Nevada Skies all the way at the bottom so it didnt work (properly) as that mod is really strict about that. As you said, I already spent hours searching for the possible culprit. Now I uninstalled FNV completely, also FOMM. Then I reinstalled the game again, applied the newest official patch and then installed 80% of the mods I was using before. Playing was smoother again in the beginning, I could play for 30 minutes or so until the game finally crashed during saving while being in an outdoor combat situation with about a dozen people involved. I think this was kinda memory consuming situation and that the crash could have been caused due to heavy memory usage. Question: Now I have 4 GB DDR2 ram with an Core2Duo 8400E 3.00GHz CPU. I already play with the FNV4GB option (the "loader"). Would it improve the game's stability and performance when I upgrade to a better CPU and more ram, let's say 8-16 GB DDR3? Or would that be a waste of money? Thank you all again. Edited July 2, 2011 by mrsathletic
KenshinX12
I doubt its your system, a dual core and 4 gb of ram should run if fine, but its not a waste of money to upgrade considering the games coming out this year(Skyrim and BF3). Hmm...I donno man, sorry I couldn't help.
mrsathletic
Thank you, Kenshin. I will surely buy a new CPU and so on when Skyrim is gonna be released. :) Concerning the topic, here is a quick update:I'm playing FNV for about 3 hours now without any crash. Here's what I did. I used FNVEdit (while I had a peek on the FNVEdit Training Manual prior) and noticed there were several mods which conflict with each other. I'm still far away from being an expert on FNVEdit but I think I grasped that the mod load order plays an essential role when it comes about any type of game crashes. Now I only changed the load order of my +20 mods but without creating a modified patch which the FNVEdit Training Manual strongly suggests. I think this helped a lot. New mods at the end of the load order, older resp. those who are of lesser importance to me I put at the bottom of that list.
