PaulMcGann
So, VTDS and Take Cover are two must-have mods for me. Unfortunately, I think, since they are chems they dehydrate and tire the PC whenever used in the game on survival, making them effectively unusable. Could someone please tell me how to fix this? (Sorry if this is a dumb question, while I'm pretty proficient at modding other games, I'm a total novice when it comes to Bethesda games.) PoliteRaider
Look at the information the game passes to the Hardcore Manager Script from HC_Manager [QUST:0000080E] in FO4Edit. There's a property group on there which is IncreaseThirstKeywords. You'll see that anything with the following keywords: ObjectTypeAlcohol [KYWD:0010C416]ObjectTypeChem [KYWD:000F4AE7]ObjectTypeStimpak [KYWD:000F4AEB]or HC_SustenanceType_IncreasesThirst [KYWD:00000883] causes an increase in the characters thirst. If the modded chem you're using doesn't have any of those keywords it should be fine. You can potentially remove keywords from an item though they may be used in other places, likewise replacing them can potentially cause unanticipated effects. However that's the spot to start. PoliteRaider
You're better off waiting until the Survival mode is released out of beta mode, so that the authors of these sorts of mods can release a new update to handle survival mode issues. However if you really can't wait then here's an experimental patch. I'm sorry I haven't had time for comprehensive testing on it but it's nearly midnight and I need some sleep. Here's the google drive link for you. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3He-h8wHAcbTmJkZE4wbUtwMHM This patch requires having both VTDS and Take Cover. It changes both of them to use the Stealth Boy Chem type keyword, which shouldn't trigger the survival mode thirst effect. No guarantees here since the original mod authors could probably do a much better job patching these and the whole thing is still in beta. This is just my best guess to fix it. Up to you whether you want to give this a try or not, but at least now you've got the option.
