Chosenman
Hello all, I recently made a topic over at the Oblivion Real Estate forums with an idea to expand the Imperial City. I always thought the City was extremely small, with not much going on. I have always been under the impression that the Imperial City was GINORMOUS! So how come its so small? The Housing is terrible, and shops and stores do not give you choices. So I have an idea. Recreate the Imperial City, as big as the island, and the engine, allows us to. Make it bigger, with more homes, more shops, and pretty much make it feel like a BIG CITY. Right now, the Imperial City sucks. Few people roam the streets, and nothing really interesting happens. What this could include:A LOT more housesShops, such as bakers, delis, shoe, more clothing shops and weapon/armor, full time black smith ect..A larger Imperial Palace, with wings, sections, and if possible, a taller tower.More City Watch Patrols, this time Patrolling different districts, with Precincts for them to live/work out of. The University district has housing, for warlocks/witches and the like.In the Market district, the shop owners have there own homes, instead of going to the tavern to sleep. ( could just be me, cause I have noticed at lock up, they head to that tavern there, and don't come back till opening time.) This would obviously expand the hell out of the Imperial City. So what could be done, is to "terraform" the surroundings on the Imperial Isle, and flatten it out, and add a waterfront area to each area. I know this would probably eliminate the Imperial Waterfront district, but unless anyone has a better idea about this, thats all I can think off. What do you fine people here think? stop me if someone is already doing this. And Of course, I would like others to help out if they like. I had a look at the editor, and while I am no master modder, I will try it and see what I can do.
martine94
i Think someone is making a mod nammed imperial city expandend but im not sure,The idea is amazing but i can only see a bunch of problems comming up.Like all thieves guild quests has to be redone. So many packages , Voices acting , Scripts , Books , papers and everything has to be recreated.I suggest not removing the waterfront and make the surrounding water a lot more bigger and resuze and add a lot of things.I don't think you know what you are going into here , Recreating all of the imperial city would take maybie ages without a proper team. And not only that. Think of all the mods regarding the imperial city.
Xersize
Yeah, the "Guide to the Imperial City" must be re-written, some great mods in the IC (like the Golden Horse Cuirier mod och Thievery in the Imperial CIty) won't work and such. No, to much problems if you ask me

No, to much problems if you ask meYes , Almost Completly everything would have to be rebuildt , Even the map . And everything.Just think about everything in the imperial city , all the scripts, Meshes, Everything. All have to be re-created.
Eolath
I think it's easier to add a city on a seperate isle then too rebuild the whole imperial city, since there are to many mods related to the imperial city, this will break them.. or break the IC mod.Since you have to make choices then. Xersize
Yeah, do some island instead with a massive city and a huge, eye-catching name. Maybe the backstory could be "Former capital of Cyrodiil before the Ayleids time" or smoething like that. Be creative, have fantasy and most of all, have patience :)

Fliki
I have one idea. Why do not make something like portal somewhere in Imperial City what leads you to something what is called expanded district, underground district, other world imperial city district or something you want. While its a good idea, I meant to make the Vanilla Imperial City bigger. I guess no one really cares that the Imperial City is that small. Must be just me heh

I had a look at the editor, and while I am no master modder, I will try it and see what I can do. First off, I'm working on a mod that involves (estimate) three new NPCs, one quest, one doorway skin to be enabled over an existing door so that it will lead to a completely changed interior space, and the interior space...and I think I should have perhaps tried something easier, like building a full scale mock up of a Spanish galleon out of wood putty in the backyard or something. Not to be discouraging... Anyway, on the subject at hand, I think if you went into the world spaces for the different districts it would be possible to just push the outer walls out further, giving you space for an outer street (or two, or five) without having to actually do anything to the existing areas or redo anything outside the walls. For example, in the Talos Plaza district instead of the Agarmir's House door opening onto a sidewalk, a patch of grass, and the outer wall it could open onto a 'street' with another house on the other side, and more stuff behind that. It would still be a monumental task, but it would be easier to maintain compatibility since you could leave literally everything in the existing city intact, and all the exterior views of the city in the distance would be basically unchanged. Of course I could be wrong as all Oblivion also.
