BGatot
Hi! I have a question regarding armor mods. Some of the downloadable armor mods that show some body skin came with a body, replacing whatever body replacer we are using. I think outfits that came with the game generally did not do that, i.e. we still get to see the same body that we have when our character is naked. So, how do we fix this? I think simply removing the body parts in question in Nifskope will only result in a transparent body, if the mod will work at all. I've been studying some body-revealing armor that came with the game, but wasn't able to pinpoint exactly what's different than those armors that came with a body. Can someone shed a light? micalov
All clothes that show skin have body parts attached the the actualy cloth/armor mesh corasponding to the body slot it uses, and since 99% use "upperbody" biped section, ( basicly everything but hands and head). You can remove body part branches but you will get massive clipping issues except something like heavy jackets and each item would have to be assigned to an "addon" slot in CS for each peace changed. bben46
All outfits both vanilla and mods - whether clothing or armor replace the body, not cover it - when wearing armor, there is nothing under it - NO body. It is done this way because what you are looking at is really a flat 2 dimensional picture that fools you into thinking it is 3 dimensional.. By not including the things you cannot see (such as a naked body, or body wearing underware under armor) it uses less of a computer's resources and allows the game to run better. You see posts about this all of the time saying I installed a new armor and it's not showing the armor and the part of the body that should be covered by the new armor is invisible. - this is a result of the new armor texture not loading. The esp says the new armor should be loaded here, but with no texture - no armor shows, and there is NO body under it. This also shows when you use an armor not made specifically for that body. If you have a H cup body, and put on a B cup armor, the character suddenly seems to loose about 10 pounds. and the new armor actually fits. Fumofumo
What? Every armor mod includes a body unless, it expects you to be entirely naked, then it adds clothing through being accessories and such that go over the body. All of the outfits that come with the game do this too, with the exception being that they use the same body for everything. There are different variants of Type 3 and other body mods and due to this, it's entirely preferential to the creator of whatever clothing mod to choose their favorite body to modify the armor to. The original game armors don't have this preferential choice because they all rely on the same body.
BGatot
Thanks for all the reply! Makes sense, I guess. If the outfit came without a body it might not 'fit' properly in whatever body replacer we're using, unless that outfit is specifically fitted for that body, right? Anyway, you're saying I can delete that 'body' part without problem? I guess I'll try that and see if my character's type 3 body would fit properly. bben46
The armor does not necessary include a body, as the body is already in the game. The armor is made for a specific body though. And you will need that body to make your armor. Some armors do include those body parts that are not covered by the armor though. All game armors and mod armors replace the body part they cover. When the armor is removed, the game automatically replaces it with the body. The vanilla body includes the underwear. It part of the body. It is not separate and does not cover anything. There is no naked body under it. To get a nude body, someone (mod maker) has to replace that body part that has the underwear with a new body part that doesn't. Mod armor works the same way. There is NO body under it.
BGatot
I see. I tried to remove that body part in nifskope, and as expected that area is gone, i.e. see through, no body or nothing. I guess it makes sense to not make the game engine render a nude body inside an outfit. So basically in a "type 3 outfit" the modder have to replace the body part that's showing (ex. the midriff) with a type-3 body part? How does one do that?
