Jagex
There was literally only one time that I remember where the date was important. In the quest for the Dark Brotherhood, you had to kill a Dunmer that traveled a round all the time (I don't know if you could find him on the road or not). He was allergic to honey, or something. But one way of killing him was with mead. The only time, I watched my calendar. True story.
Vagrant0
There were some holidays in Oblivion, but it appears that these were cut either because of having extra dialogues related to them (disk space for voice files was already the source of many cuts (including beggar speech)) or because it wasn't seen as being meaningful enough in a game that technically only spans a few weeks in time and has this undertone of urgency due to the Oblivion crisis in effect. Time is meaningless because there is little happening that requires any sort of waiting. Sadly, with Skyrim being under siege by dragons, I suspect the same sense of urgency and few instances where you have to wait longer than a day or so before the quest can continue. But, most games are like this... From prisoner to hero within a week of passive effort. If only the real world moved this fast.
