please help, very laggy, new laptop

Recommended Posts

I just purchased this laptop thinking it was great for gaming. the only reason i bought it was to play witcher 2. any help at all would be greatly appreciated. i am trying to play the game on low settings right now and it is still unplayable. i have updated all of my drivers. i even saw on here a suggestion to go into nvidia control panel and select the witcher2 launcher.exe file and manually move the settings for the video card to high settings. that didnt work either. also when i check compatibilty for the game from the tab in the control panel it says excellent compatibility. i also went to canyourunit.com and it says i should be able to play the game on high settings. also been to best buy and they said there was nothing they could do. sorry just wanted to list everything i have tried. i have only had the laptop for 2 days and i need to know if i should just return it. if no one can help could someone suggest a laptop that would be able to play this game on high settings.

i have an ASUS G73SW-3DE

CPU - Intel Core i7-263OQM, 2.0GHz

8GB of Memory

Geforce GTX 460M - 1.5G

if anyone needs any other info please let me know. i am not that pc savvy. just know how to do the basic stuff. thank you very much.

First you need to make sure your laptop is up to date with the latest updates . This should be your download page

[url="http://usa.asus.com/Notebooks/Gaming_Powerhouse/G73SW/#download[/url]

Also the last i heard the 3D drivers were not working with Witcher 2 so you might try disabling them by clicking

start>all programs>nvidia>3D vision and click disable 3D vision

thanks for trying to help. i have been to that page and have already downloaded the updates not to mention most of those updates arent even the most recent ones. and also it makes no difference if the 3d is enabled or not when playing the game. get the same lag. i am just going to return this thing. can anyone reccomend a laptop that will play this game on high settings for around 2k. if there isn't one then i guess i'll just wait for it to come out on 360.

Hell mate, with 2K to spend you could build yourself a gaming PC that would wipe the floor with all games for the next 5 years! :thumbsup:

OK sorry, as long as you don't end up like some twerp I had alongside me today in Watford....driving while playing something on one of these new tablet efforts! And I thought Twatnavs were a big enough distraction!

As laptops go it`s pretty much whatever you`re in the market for .Just my opinion but stay away from hybrids...with those you are at the mercy of the manufacturer to release video card drivers if and when they feel like it , same with single Intel HD video cards...not much bang for the buck .

You might consider looking into Optimus technology . That is an Intel/Nvidia joint venture and one that lets you use the latest video drivers from Nvidia as well as having a power saving feature that lets you use a Nvidia chip for gaming and also an Intel HD chip for lesser graphically demanding applications . I know Asus and Dell and Alienware uses them in some of their laptops .
