Are playable mages any good?

Need help quick cuz I'm thinking about starting one. I like the idea of being weak, with my spells to help (although it does get annoying trying to set up spells while attacking). I also changed one of the minors to Spear, in hope that can help me level a bit.

 

It doesn't seem like I can level over 40 with my useful skills, if my calculations are correct.

 

But if you played one, please tell me how it went w/o spoilers. Thanks.

I've played a mage upto level 24, didnt take too much work as long as you remember to rely on ur magic and not, I repeat NOT ob ur weapons.

 

Mages take longer to go up in level (IMO) but the payoff is well worth it, especially when u start creating ur own enchanted items and stuff.

 

Best advice though, just play around with a mage character, join the guild and the Telvanni, you'll soon find out what being a mage is all about :D

I tried, and I would say no. Unless you use a mod which gives you tripple mana and makes mana regenerate. YOU NEVER HAVE ENOUGH MANA.

Woo hoo! Although I did change Enchant to Spear. I doubt I'd use enchant much. If I do, there's always another mage who can kindly do that for me.

 

IS there any mods that give mages the ultimate experience? I do have Regeneration.

If u need to find a way to get more mana for a mage, play as an Altmer and take The Apprentice as your birthsign, starting mana:240 :whistling:

 

Gives ur game a huge boost, especially since you can expect to put ur Intelligence up maybe 3 points every level :)

 

However, i do accept that a mage takes a lot of work, u have to cast a LOT of spells out of any one skill for it to increase.....bummer :(

Heres a little trick for the attronarch sign...you summon an ancestor ghost and make it attack you, and when it does it's ghost curse you can absorb its magicka. :D cheap i know :D

Ancestral Ghost regeneration isent cheap, it costs what? 18 magicka to summon one, and if your extreamly unlucky it woulnt even refill what it cost to cast it.

 

Alchemy:

Ash Yam + Bloat = Fortify Intelligence (Fortify to about 300,000)

Com Berry + Daedric Heart = Restore Magicka, at 300,000 INT the potion will last like 3 years.

of course so is drinking 10x Fortify Strength 100pts for 1440 seconds. and using a daedric battleaxe =)

Instead of being a mage be a battle mage like me so you are trained in both spellcasting and armoured combat. When you get attacked summon a creature to aid you and then either kill the enemy withy a weapon or a spell.

 

Battle mages are good because when youre magicka runs out you instead of running you kill them with a weapon you are trained with.

That's true. I decided to make a archer who learns the way of the mage. There won't be any experience given but it sure opens a new style of gameplay when I get too tough as an archer.

If you have alot of time, its easy to gain levels buy just casting simple spells over and over agian.
