ranafuineluva
Hi all! Seeing the new The Mod Configuration Menu by pelinor made me think of something. I always thought it was a very wise idea on Bethesda's side to make their games moddable. This leading the games to be replayable at much longer times than non-moddable games and adding much flavor. But it seems that making the game moddable also causes developer lazyness. Like, why bother with that bug community will fix it, or why bother implementing that function, the community will do it in no time. So the basic game is a good game but it is not user friendly and is full of bugs. It is upto the modder to implement such beatiful and simple features like The Mod Configuration Menu to the game instead of the develeopers themselves. Here is whats been bugging me: I do think that only having one action button is kinda annoying since F3. And New Vegas has followed the same direction. The Vanilla game can fare well with only one but with this many fine mods out there adding more interaction with your environment, it is kinda getting problematic. Stealth mode + action button was a fine try but it is far from enough. So I am proposing a mod that will add one (or multiple?) new hotkey(s) that can be used by other mods. By itself it wont do anything. But other mods will use this mod's alternate action hotkey to add functions. So if two mods assign stealth+activate function to an object there wont be incompatibility or one simply wont get overwritten. Instead there will be a popup menu that lets you select which function you want to select. For ex: You will hit the alternate activate button and two options will popup [Cannibalize Corpse] or [Resurrect]. This ease of use can lead to much easier implementation of these kind of interactions with the environment by modders. Also rather than a pop-up there might be multiple keys (3-4) selected and the functions associated with an item will be distributed to these keys by the mod itself as the popup can become tiring for some people. What do you guys think?
