The game was working, now refuses to play.

Just got a new computer running 64bit Windows 7, I had Fallout 3 installed in Program Files (x86) and it ran fine, but half my mods didn't work. I've read that installing to program files can screw things up so uninstalled and reinstalled to C:\Games instead, now the game won't run at all, it crashes immediately as the first loading slide comes up. I've changed permissions to give everyone full access, changed ownership to my profile, including the sub-folders and files, and still no luck. The only thing that has changed since this morning is the install directory, so it isn't a driver issue or a directx issue or anything like that. Anyone got any ideas on fixing it?

What mods are you running? Had same problem with XP, traced it to DarnUI, messed up on the install and never tweaked the .ini file for Fallout. Are you running a Steam version or retail DVD? That makes a bit of difference to from what I've seen on the boards.

I fixed it! I think it was crashing because I didn't have ownership of the My Games folder so it couldn't access whatever is stored in there. I don't remember setting ownership any differently for the Program Files install either, but there you go.
