Dark Brotherhood's Dark Secrets

Bethesda's Vile Lair plugin kinda screwed the lore, using a Sithis statue that could talk.

Can that statue talk? I've never had it do that! Then again, I found the storage room only yesterday, after months of playing... How did you get it speaking?!

I don't have the Vile Lair plugin, but I heard something like that. But I just found out the statue doesn't actually talk to the player; there's an npc (or a book, I don't remember) who says the statue talks to him.

Still, a Sithis statue that can cure vampirism (That's what it does right?) is weird too.

My 2 cents ..... as long as a modder adds to the Lore, in such a way that it doesn't conflict with the Lore's foundations, then go for it.

As far as Sithis goes, it seems that "he" is a manifestation of the collective. Since these followers of Sithis each possess the pathology of a diseased mind, it may be postulated that what they know as Sithis may in fact be the disease. So Sithis, and schizophrenia, may evoke "voices in the head" thus acquiring an appellation. Once a "thing" is named, it may become the focus of worship or attention without the mundane necessity of existance.

I would only add one more thing. Since "becoming Sithis" flagrantly disrespects the Lore, may I suggest a plot line, that explores the delusions and insanity of the questor. This would be far more interesting to me, as a player. As a murderer for hire, there may come a time for the character, when the accumulation of guilt and submerged remorse, come welling to the surface causing a psychic break with reality. At this point, the questor may "believe" that he may become Sithis. Perhaps the Morag Tong, ( those of them who are not insane ) may try to help this Legendary Assassin; to bring him back from the brink. There may also be those among the DB or the Morag Tong that may sieze upon this chance to eliminate each other. The storylines could take many branchings, with the Questor not knowing whom to trust, until the very last branching. Choices made earlier, could enable the Questor to save himself or be forever damned to his delusions.

It sounds very interesting, and I wish you the best of luck.:D
