Death's Sweet Embrace
I installed Shivering Isles, waited, I went to the Niben Bay looking for the portal even though I had not recieved the message, and did not see an island.Even after waiting about fifty game hours. So, I went to download the SI official path hoping this would fix my problem. It said "Old File Not Found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents did not match."I then uninstalled Oblivion, saying a big eff you to the patch error.I reinstalled Oblivion, then SI, then I downloaded the patch again.Same thing. The patch error had the last click.-.-Any help? Karasuman
Things should be installed in this order: Oblivion (and NO 1.1 patch). Install the 1.2 patch. Then install Shivering Isles, and then the SI patch. If you do it in that exact order, it should work. The 1.1 patch overwrites your original .exe, which is the .exe the 1.2 patch is looking for. If it doesn't find that file, it'll give you the error you're receiving, because it has found a file of the same name as the one it's after, but it isn't the exact same file. Another brilliant Bethesda gaffe, as it probably would've made more sense to assume most people would have the 1.1 version of the game instead of the 1.0. Also make sure you're not using any No-CD cracks or whatever else. Be sure to only have the original version of the 1.0 .exe in the Oblivion directory when you install the 1.2 patch. I've never had a problem getting SI to work when doing things in that order. In order to avoid having to re-install the whole game, you can alternately attempt to simply pull a copy of the 1.0 .exe off the game disc and put it in your Oblivion folder, then run the 1.2 patch. It may work and it may not.

Karasuman
When you uninstalled it, did you try doing so from the disc or with add/remove programs? The only way to get the game to truly uninstall is by eliminating its registry entries from the registry. Doing it from the game disc doesn't work. It'll act like it's uninstalling it, but it doesn't. The way I normally uninstall the game is by using a program called CCRegCLeaner, which will get rid of Oblivion's installation registry key. Then I delete Oblivion's core files, such as the .esm and the .bsa's. After that, the disc should give you the option to install. Also, if you have any mods, your Data folder will remain because the files of those mods are still there. The game won't delete any files which it did not put there itself. Speaking of mods, you may wish to remove them or turn them all off before re-installing, since it will give you a cleaner base to start from. Death's Sweet Embrace
Well.I still have this problem. And I tried to clean up my active mod list, so now I am only using exnem's eyecandy body replacer, rens beauty pack (Only hairs), and beautiful people for eyes.I've waited for over three days, Haven't gottent he strange door message, and I don't see any islands whatsoever in Nibben Bay that weren't there in Vanilla, the one with Fort Grief and the one with the Bawnwatch or whatever Bandit camp are the only islands there, I don't see any huge island that has the gateway on it.I even swam all over the bay, no island. And I opened the Construction Set and loaded up the DLCShiveringIsles and it just comes up with the same exact things that Vanilla has, no dungeons other than the standard Ayleid, Grottos, and etc, and only vanilla armor. No madness, or amber, or anything. Can anyone help? kromwell
What about Knights of the nine? I started a complete reinstall, removed all mods/folder etc. installed as you suggested (+Knights of the nine) and I am still getting the same problem as well.. This is discusting tech support on the part of bethseda. How is it everyone else has not come accross this error or if they have and fixed it, why doesn;t anyone post a simple "Install order" for official addons. This is realy p****** me off! I have looked all over the internet too to find anything and nobody has reported nothing. Bethseda has reported "Not compatible with Direct2Drive Installs" which I find is a sick joke! What so they want you to pay for it again if you already purchased it this way?? A**ho***.... II have never seen the likes of this kind of underhanded crap in all my gaming past!
