All mods broken with no apparent cause?

I apologize in advance if this isn't the right place to post this, but it seemed the most logical choice to me. Two days ago (April 21) I was playing F4 just fine, running about 90 mods that had all been working together perfectly for 100+ hours. I closed the game for the night, shut down my PC and went to bed. Later the next day I went to start the game and every last one of my mods is disabled. The game launches and my save file loads, but my character is just a floating head (because none of my armor, weapon and pip-boy textures are working) and my settlements are just big empty spaces (because most of the structures in them were added by mods). I really don't get this - not one single thing on my computer changed overnight, it wasn't even on. I haven't really messed with anything yet for fear of breaking it even more, but does anyone have any ideas? I'm on Windows 10, Fallout 4 version 1.4.132, same version of F4SE, newest version of NMM. This is what I think happened. I think you started your game and the NMM disconnected all your ESP's. When you loaded your game, it told you that some ESP's were required for that save file, and you pushed Yes to load anyways instead of shutting your game off and re-enabling all your ESP's then restarting Fallout 4. And wallah, a bunch of stuff that your save relied on is gone and your save has been corrupted. If you get tired of messing with your game check this out, its pretty easy.

No, there was no warning about missing .esp's and had there been, I would not have loaded anyway. I've been successfully modding every Bethesda game since Morrowind and I'm not an idiot - I also didn't ask for spam links to other mods you're trying to promote. If you aren't willing to answer the question that was asked, you are encouraged not to reply to the topic at all.

If you aren't willing to answer the question that was asked, you are encouraged not to reply to the topic at all.

Thats a list of over 170+ mods with perfect installation instructions on exactly how to install them. It's made so you don't have problems like the one you are experiencing at this moment, or at all. When you do what I said I think happened, what you are describing is usually the outcome. Mods that rely on lets say CBBE body data may cause your head to float if its not loaded correctly, or any other body or maybe even skin mod. Maybe the armor you were wearing didn't load thus the game has nothing to register so again, floating head. Other missing things. If you have a Planter mod and it ESP doesn't load, the planter dissapears forever and doesn't exist, while your settlers will still farm it and NEVER stop, even though there is nothing there. Maybe a mod is overwriting another mod in the load order which again means your ESP's aren't loading correctly and your data is being corrupted.

 

Maybe next time someone makes a suggestion and offers you help you could be a little less of a prick about it. I don't mod at all and seem to realize already what your issue seems to be. You would think if you were such a pro you would have all the answers.

 

Oh and I offered you the list because once your save is screwed up with a bunch of missing data theres usually nothing you can do. Thats when I usually start a fresh playthrough.

your first one won't work.

 

plugins.txt needs a * at the start of the line for .esp you want to use, and it cannot be read only.

many other threads/posts about it.

 

No idea what the new NMM is doing, but putting the =1 would be bad.

Actually it got to be read only or the file will be overwritten after you launch the game,so the only point in time it shouldn't be read only is while you edit the file,after you are done with that set it to read only again.

 

However the OP says he uses version 1.4.132,which still uses the old system so unless his game got somehow updated to the survival beta (1.5 or above) this is not relevant for him at all.

 

OP from a quick look at your INI i see you still use the outdated method of enabling mods with the:

sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\

make a search on how to enable mods in FO4 wiki or something and try the newer method instead.

Are you subscribed to the Beta Update? A new update was released a few days ago and that will cause your mods to be disabled. Try unsubscribing from the beta update, then check that your ini files and plugins.txt have all the right entries again.

I'm not subscribed to the beta, but I did do this, updated my ini settings to what seems to be the newest standard, now the game won't launch at all. Just a black screen that never goes anywhere, have to force close it.
