DustimusPrime
I have an idea for a mod that would use some dialogue from Fallout 3. I know Bethesda has a rule against reusing game assets in mods so would it be possible to keep the voices silent unless the person using the mod moved the voices over themselves? Also could using dialogue word for word even without the voice acting be considered reusing an asset?
Oubliette
Bethesda is usually ok with us recreating assests based on previous games on our own. So it should be fine to create a silently voiced mod that uses dialogue from a previous game as well as allowing users to move files from their own copy of the previous game to the new one though they might frown on explaining in great detail how to do so. DustimusPrime
Thanks, I'll have to be careful about how I do it then.
RustyXXL
I do agree, that it's unlikely that you'd get in troubles for that, but you should still be aware, that the written text/story also belongs to bethesdas IP, and that these dialogues even in their written form are copyrighted as much as everything else. So technically you would still be hurting their copyright, and technically they wouldn't have big problems shutting that down, if they wanted to...Just so you can't say "I didn't know" ;)
