Oblivion Sound Issue

Recommended Posts

All you need to do is uninstall any mods that replace world textures. The original files are safely packed in a BSA. They're still there; you just have something installed that's overwriting them at the time the game loads. Just uninstall texture replacers. Oh, also, OBMM can sometimes forget things. For example, if you got a ran out of memory error after installing something, OBMM wouldn't know that installed any OMODs at all during that session. :L

Ok so, I have already uninstalled the texture replacer mods that being QTP3 and lite. So assuming OBMM didn't leave anything behind I can just replace the textures with the ones from that BSA file and everything go back to default Oblivion?

No, no, don't extract the BSA. They're supposed to be packed in there. I mean, you could, but it would just be a waste of resources. It sounds like OBMM did not uninstall your texture mods cleanly. What a pain... This would be really easy to clean up with BAIN because BAIN shows you what's been installed and doesn't leave messes behind.

What other mods do you have installed? If you don't have many, uninstall all of your mods, delete the meshes and textures folders in the Data folder, and then reinstall all the mods you want installed. Then, consider switching to BAIN, at least for installing texture replacers. http://tescosi.com/wiki/Oblivion:BAIN_Installation

Are you sure you uninstalled all texture replacers. If this is just OBMM being forgetful, you can also fix this issue by installing QTP3 via OBMM and then deactivating the OMOD again. You'll want to restart OBMM after doing that probably because that installation unistallation sequence may eat up all of OBMM's allocated memory.

Edit: If you are going to try Redimized Reduced, you can just install that on top, instead of installing and uninstalling QTP3. They contain the same files, just the ones in the Redimized Reduced version are smaller, lower resolution textures.

Damn, I really should just stop messing with things. I extracted the BSA, whatever though I'll just reset my data folder to vanilla and just reinstall all my mods, cause I only have like 10. Is BAIN better then OBMM? cause I could just use that if it'll take away these pains in the ass.

edit: I don't have a preference to OBMM anyway, I just barely got Oblivion for PC on the 7th. Only thing is I don't know how to use BAIN

edit: Ok, so basically my game has an unmodded Data folder with no mods installed and all its crash on exit goodness. I'd put the obse mod back in to fix that but I don't want to risk F-ing things up again so I'll just wait for you to get back to me and hopefully you'd be kind enough to give me tips on how to use this BAIN program.

Did you delete all of the folders you extracted out of the BSA? Just look at that BAIN Installation page I linked in my last post. If you want a more complete run through of the whole thing modding process with BAIN: http://tescosi.com/wiki/Oblivion:Complete_Installation_Guide <-- You can skip to step to the Part 1 step after installing/reverting Oblivion.

For a more complete guide for just using Bash and BAIN: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35230

Yes, I just followed these instructions http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Revert_to_vanilla_data That program looks like a real pain in the ass to learn how to use and install...

BAIN? For some it is a pain to install, but the benefits are worth it. It's just much cleaner and allow you to better understand the contents of the mods you're installing. Not to mention, installing, uninstalling and repairing installs is way, way simpler. No more deactivating and reactivating entire mods to change one plugin or set of textures.

Edit: It's up to you. I support OBMM and BAIN on my site. I started out all OBMM before BAIN matured.

Ok, so I reinstalled all my mods except QTP3 and now Oblivion CTD before the loading screen shows up (I have intro movies off). wtf....

edit: For the record I could get to the main menu prior to installing all the mods.

All of what mods? Did you regenerate the Oblivion.ini, the file in the My Games\Oblivion folder? Did you turn on BSA Redirection in OBMM Utilities > Archive Invalidation? I don't think any of that would contribute to a CTD there, not installing QTP3 either. What else did you install?

Wasn't aware I needed to regenerate the Oblivion.ini, I'll set it to BSA redirection, what if I was using alteration the whole time? I'll go try both of those and come back, if the problem isn't solved I'll list all my active mods.

edit: So even with a new Oblivion.ini and BSA redirection it still craps out.

Mods currently installed:

UOP, UMODP, USIP, and supplements

Alive water

Better SoW

Color map mod

Fast Exit 2

HGEC Body replacer

IFT 21

Illumination within revived + IWR Optimized

Legion Horse Armor (which I don't even know if its installed right)

Lift Detect (gives LD a red blur)

Landscape LOD replacements

Natural Envirnments

Natural Weather

Quest Award Leveling

Realistic Water

Symphony of Violence

Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items

BTmod

I don't understand what the problem is, I had all these installed prior to making my Data folder vanilla again. I used OBMM because I couldn't figure out how to install Wyre Bash.

I also cleaned the mods BOSS said to clean.
