Vagrant0
The problem is that combat targets that aren't NPCs or creatures wouldn't be able figure out if you were using blunt or blade unless it had a very long and limited script which checked the equipped weapon against all the vanilla weapons to figure it out. Therefore any further scripting which would then raise skill every 13*x hits with x being the number of the player's base skill over 15 wouldn't know which skill to raise. And trying to keep the hit count seperated per weapon type would prove even more difficult. And as mentioned, using a creature or NPC would have combat AI issues where everyone around would become alarmed and probably interrupt one way or another. You're really best off just getting a spell of summon scamp, or using the staff of everscamp, for a cheap way of raising your weapon skills. Combat targets are there more so that NPCs have something to do, other than stand around talking about mudcrabs, than anything.
tsolless
Couldn't make some targets in a room and script it so that when you are in the room you get less experience?
Vagrant0
Couldn't make some targets in a room and script it so that when you are in the room you get less experience?Less experience... Definitly not. Scripted targets that aren't NPCs or creatures... Probably not that either. It seems I was mistaken, due to some playing around lately, it seems that the only hits that register on activators or similar are those from bows. While they can also technically register hits from spells, they are limited to checking for certain effect types. This means that any sort of non-actor target would only be applicable for arrows. Essentially killing the idea of training targets entirely.
