Game crashes upon exit and when loading new areas IE: cities

I recently bought Oblivion. I do have some mods Installed BUT I had this problem BEFORE I installed any mods. I also had this problem with no mods installed with the 1.2 patch. Almost every time I exit Oblivion I receive an error stating that the memory could not be read at X address. I receive the same error (I do not know if it is the same address, I'll try to find out) when fast traveling between cities (I get the error during the loading of the city) I also get it when I load my save games, though not often. Aside from the exit error, the other errors do not happen that often. I also have had several times when I hear the error sound, but my computer freezes and I have to hit the reset button and get to wait for windows to load more often than I'd like. I have the latest graphics drivers from nividia. My current Specs:

Also If I overclock my FSB (my multiplier is locked) I receive errors more frequently, even with a modest overclock of 220*11 (other games run fine, America's Army, Hitman Blood Money).

WinXP Pro SP2

AMD athlon 64 3700+ San Diego @ stock

2GB PC3200 GSkill CAS: 2.5 in Dual channel.

2 80GB harddrives in master slave. Master is WD Caviar Slave is Seagate. Oblivion is installed on same drive as windows. 12 GB free on said drive. Same amount free on second drive.

EVGA 7900GS @ stock. Latest WHQL Nvidia drivers

Onboard LAN (realtek)

ASRock 939Dual-VSTA Socket 939 ULi M1695

I have C-media onboard sound, but it is not used. My Plantronics Headset is USB and therefore has its own sound processor.

TT 420W PSU

I think my paging file is big enough at 2GB.

Background processes:

I normally do not run the game with firefox on.

Sview is my temp monitoring software.

It is not a heat issue as I have an AC unit next to my PC. Not to mention 4 fans, one of which blows on my vid card.

I recently upgraded my memory by adding another Gig stick before I had Oblivion, other games ran fine.

I do not have a floppy drive and therefore cannot run memtest, but I did run the microsoft version from a cd and found no errors.

I do not have much money right now so buying software is not viable.

I do understand that Oblivion is a torture test for computers which could be why I do not receive this error in other games.

The error is a memory error, but I would like some input since although I know a lot about computers, I do not know it all nor have I had a lot of experience with software errors. I'm also a EE which means I'm a hardware guy, not a software guy.

Right now I am speculating that the errors may be resulting from the new stick of memory I bought. It could also be because dual channel adds more stress to the memory/ I really need to buy a matched pair not two of the same sticks made 6 months apart.

now that I am done writing my book:

Thanks,

P.S. If I still did not provide enough Info let me know.

UPDATE: I got a screenshot of the error as I exited the game. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v386/soloman02/error.jpg
