PanzerOfGod Posted August 12, 2007 Share Posted August 12, 2007 I made a new Bosmer town called Noraldaost, so I decided to try editing the textures for guard cuirasses and shields. They looked great in Nifskope (I used a Celtic Tree of Life as my symbol), but ingame, the shield is fine, yet the cuirass isn't. It doesn't show up on your upper body, and the lower body part goes through your legs; see below. can anyone tell me where they think I went wrong? Anyway, if by check the texture paths you mean make sure the texture property in Nifskope has the correct texture, then I've already done that. Looks great, just not in the game or cs. I don't know about alpha layers though, and the wiki doesn't seem to have a page on them. As to the normal map, I'm using the kvatch guard cuirass _n map, but renamed to Bosmer Gaurd Cuirass_n. Is there any problem with that?Yes, actually. I've been doing some texturing today, and I've ecountered some of the same bugs as you. The reason you see the armor as black when viewing it on your inventory screen is that it's missing a _n sister file. I don't know what any of these things are called, but I've observed that the file without _n is your actual texture, and you must have a file of the exact same name but with _n added to the end of it in the same folder as the other in order for it to work right. I went into the game, and the cuirass is no longer black (as I expected it wouldn't be), but out of the inventory all but the shoulder area showed. I zoomed in enough to go into first person, then zoomed out again, and the cuirass was fine! No missing parts, no nothing, just fine. It remained fine for a while after, too :).
