Leveling is so slow

Could there be some reason why I can barely get past level 1 with a character? I swear the level progress meter is increasing at a snail's pace. I downloaded Realistic Leveling, which for a time seemed to remedy this but not it has stopped working. Does OOO/MMM/FCOM affect leveling progression at all? Could another mod possibly be causing it? This sucks. I want to level up already. :(

To level in Oblivion you have to raise your Major skills, which hopefully you chose major skills your actually using because if you're only leveling minor skills then you won't progress at all. It takes 10 skill ups of your major skills (unmodded) to level in oblivion. Yes, I know Francesco's mod (included in FCOM) does slow down skill progression and add two more skill ups to level but you can turn those off assuming you didn't hit next all the way through installation. I'm not sure about the other mods however. Edited by ComputerGod91

OOO and FCOM default progression is three times slower. That is intended because of all of the diversity the mods add at different levels. If you level to quickly, you will miss a lot of added content. If you still wish to rush through: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14304 <-- Progress (*requires OBSE*)

With Progress, to change the global skill progression rate, you only need to install the core, the ESM. In the main INI file, Data\_tejon\progress.ini, you want to change the first modifier (default set to match OOO/FCOM) to something smaller.

For example: to change skill progress back to the default

change "set Progress.fSkillUseFactor to 0.7280" to "set Progress.fSkillUseFactor to 0.3500"

The INI is well-documented, the accompanying explanation for a setting is just above it. You could also double the speed at which skills progress if you wished. This mod gives you the most control and will work with everything except for Oblivion XP and Wrye Leveling. I think there is some other leveling mod that uses it's own different experience progression thing, but it's not well known. Plus, you wouldn't need a skill progression rate change mod if you were using any of those because OOO's changes wouldn't have any effect.

(Also not that Fran does not do that by default. You would have to install and optional add-on.)

i must admit nGCD and Progress where my first choice of mods to use for levelling but then i found Oblivion XP and so far i havent found a reason not to use it so if you do choose Oblivion XP look for the updated version 4.1.9a as there are two version on the Nexus.

Well, it's a matter of whether you like the XP-based system or Bethesda's skill progression system. I don't want the experience points allocated wherever system in this game. :L

It's a great mod for many people though: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35333

You're absolutely right, which means I need to change that link on my site. I thought I'd updated it already, but I must've had the wrong link saved to the clipboard.

But for the life of me I cannot figure out why Realistic Leveling seems to have stopped working. I'm so upset.

I tried using Progress and OOO's Level-Stock plugin, both appear to jump my level 1 progress up to 100% when I load a new game, but my level still is not increasing even when I try going to sleep.

I'm so frustrated I just cannot figure out what is wrong or why RL won't work anymore. :(

RL not working sounds like, are you sure OBSE is installed and you are launching the game through the obse_loader.exe file? You know that changing your level progression rate means that your cumulative experience may put you at a different level than the default calculation, which isn't odd at all, actually. Don't use that OOO plugin though. Use Progress instead.

Also, smooth leveling mods don't use the level up menu. RL allows you to do pseudo-smooth leveling by allowing the user to set whether or not to use the level up menu in it's INI file. Maybe you need to check that to see what your settings are. Maybe some of the settings in the INI are not set. That mod has an OMOD script that lets you fill out settings to install it, right? If so, it may be the case that some settings are not set, at least if you tried to reinstall it or something without going through OBMM. Check the INI file.

Yes, I always use OBSE loader to load, as I have been using it for a long time now. :(

I am also positive I set it up right, as I did indeed use OBMM to do so..

I just don't understand why my level is not going up ingame despite it stating that it's at 100. :(
