Texture + Other Glitches after getting near Jacobstown

Recommended Posts

I got to jacobstown to do the quest with rex and just a little ways outside of it my textures started to break like so:

and now I'm having problems using a few of my other mods. There were 0 issues before I got close to Jacobs town.

My mods:

Project Nevada (+all DLC patches)

Nevada Skies

NCMs texture pack

Electro-city

MCM

CASM

YUP (base game + all dlc)

Reload speed start fix

Breeze Male Body + Armors

Nouk's Hairs

Neck chains (i don't know the exact title)

Spice Of life Variety Armors

NV sexual innuendos (and all the packages for it. I'm listing it since its, scripts and animations and stuff)

Lumenarium

Portable Tent (This mod is now broken since I got to Jacobstown)

Enhanced Blood

Alternative Start (I didn't use it on this save file though)

EVE

Courier Vests + Cheat esp

Gas masks of the world

Like I said this didn't become an issue until after I got close to Jacobstown, and my textures started to break.

That is a list of mods, but not a "Load Order" (LO), or at least not a good one. If you are using a mod manager it should be able to produce an LO list. Regardless use LOOT to sort your LO. If necessary LOOT can be used to get an LO you can paste here. (It's in the docs.)

Are you using any form of ArchiveInvalidation? If not, enable it.

See the TESTG site in my sig and look up "Black Surfaces" under "Troubleshooting".

http://pastebin.com/v50nRj78 here is my current load order according to FOMM. I've got archiveinvalidation emabled and the problem is persisting.

The only solution I have thought of is to try to remove the Portable Tent mod but I've got like, 90% of my things in my tent on my current save. (As the tent added by the mod is broken as well, at least the one I have)

EDIT: Also I used LOOT to sort my Load order and the problem hasn't stoppped.

I use Portable Tent and have no such problems with over 200 mods installed via merge files and Wrye Flash, including NMC. To the best of my knowledge it doesn't affect any textures until it is deployed when it overlays them in game. I doubt the mod itself is your issue.

I don't see anything obviously wrong with your LO, but do see you have "Nevada Skies" which has been linked to some texture problems (not particularly this). If you are looking to try uninstalling something, try that one. Otherwise I have to say I am unfamiliar with most of them other than PN and EVE.

The "Black Surface" texture problem is usually missing normal map files. But it can also be a problem with available texture memory after you have been playing for a while. See "Solid Surface Colors" under "Troubleshooting" on the TESTG site. Not all areas of the map are equal in terms of textual demands. What sort of video card do you have?

Because you use CASM to automatically save, it may be that your save file has preserved the problem. Try using an earlier save and see if the problem persists.

That video card comes with 1 GB of video RAM standard. Based upon your "Approx. Total Memory" I assume you have 2 GB of physical RAM, based upon the MS default of 1.5 times physical RAM for the swap file size. This is the "rule of thumb" estimate for 32-bit systems. For 64-bit systems they now use a more complex formula. In either case I suggest you manually set your swap/paging file size larger (i.e. 2x RAM) to see if it helps. You could also reduce the screen or texture resolutions for testing to confirm it is overtaxing your system.

Have you confirmed you are only having this problem in Jacobstown? There are lots of trees there, which increase the video texture demand. Similar areas away from but around Jacobstown should also have texture glitches if it is low texture memory and not simply missing normal maps. IF the problem remains only in Jacobstown itself then you need to verify that the "*.dds" files associated with those meshes are present. These should be present in the vanilla BSA files and would only be "missing" if a mod were replacing those meshes/textures with loose files that are improperly pathed or non-existent. None of the listed mods would appear to do so from their names, but one never knows if you are using texture replacers that don't have ESM/ESP files.
