LordShotGun
Odd crash I have been having where the game freezes and go black and then my monitor goes into power save mode! Except that I have music from Pandora via chrome still playing and changing songs. CTD I can handle but this is forcing me to hard reset my PC every time! In game it seems to happen randomly and so far everything quest wise has been working fine. All my mods appear to be working and the game runs great until it crashes of course. bben46
This is not a game or NMM problem. It sounds more like a Video card problem. First, make sure the cable connections between the video card and monitor are secure on both ends. Test with another cable if you can.Check to see if your Video card driver is up to date. The driver will depend on whether the card is AMD, NVIDA or Intel. If you don't know how to do your own work on a computer take it to someone who does know how. A small mistake can cost big time. Be sure the computer is powered off and actually unplugged from any power source before opening the case. :yes:Clean the dust out of the video card ( and the rest of the computer while you have it open) Make sure all fans turn easily.Make sure any fans on the video card and any others actually work when powered up. Then reseat the video card - Power off the computer wait at least a minute before doing anything.Unplug the card from the motherboard, use a small paint brush ( prefer natural bristle and not nylon bristle brush) to clean any dust from the socket.Clean the connector on the card (DO NOT USE AN ERASER on the contacts as this can ruin the card) Wipe with a cloth that has a very small amount of alcohol on it. Don't use much alcohol and don't use a household cleaner. Then wipe with a dry cloth.Use a flashlight to examine the socket and connector for burn marks. if you see burns - you have a bigger problem and may have to replace the motherboard. :pinch:If it looks OK, replace the video card, being sure it snaps all the way down in the socket. Another possibility is if you have replaced the video card with a more powerful card, and the old computer power supply cannot supply enough power for the new card. Many brand name off the shelf computers have power supplies that can barely supply enough for the original components, and adding a newer video card just overwhelms them. Or a bad power supply can cause this.
LordShotGun
Hmm, could be a card update software issue but I doubt it is a hardware issue. This is the only game that has this type of crash. I have and will crash other games including other Bethesda games on a regular basis. Computer is pretty new, built it last cyber Monday so I will double check the connections. Just updated my Radeon R9 380 so we shall see. Thanks for the suggestions, I will test this out and get back to you! Edited April 27, 2016 by LordShotGun
