Hiccups in the movement

Recommended Posts

I got strange problem, the movement of Geralt is like shuttered, every 1 sec i get like 5 freezes with 5ms between them, it makes the movement choppy and not like in any other game, like its loading something every second.

If the character isn't moving and I only move with the mouse the output is completely smooth. like i mentioned in the description, I get 33 average fps, the high fps stays that way also while moving.

My rig :

E5200 @3600mhz

HD4850 @ 720/1000

4 gigs of ddr 2 ram @ 860

WIN 7 64BIT

Updated driver and game.

Thanks.

Could be your antivirus and real time scanning . Try making an exception in your antivirus program for the Witcher 2 folder . Is this W2 or W1...AFAIK you don`t move with the mouse in W2

I Tried ur solution, didn't helped.

I wanted to make sure that while I'm not moving there is no problem and..well, there is, the freezes occurred also while standing and moving around with the camera..

I changed the textures from none the high, nothing, I changed the video memory from large to the smallest, neither changed anything.

it's not shadows, not lod and not the bloom. the other effects just turned off anyway (AA, LIGHTSHAFTS, ssao, vertical sync..).

I dont know what to do.. any suggestions ?

Your GPU is the problem mate...

I used to play with the same GPU as yours and had the exact same prob. I upgraded to a Geforce Gtx 570 a while back and the prob was gone.

Some Radeon cards are just to damn unstabile...

Btw; Do you have the 1Gb or 512Mb GPU?

The damned 512MB version...I came to conclusion that it is the card, u are right.

If I change the texture from none to high it does help a bit (something I noticed only now), hence the card memory is the cause to the problem..

I guess ill need to find a way to control the card's voltage in hope I will be able to stretch the OC a little more.

Maybe overclocking will help a little?

I'm already at -+730 core (625 original), but cant go on any further due to probably lack of voltage, which for some reason I cant modify with ATT, but that's a problem for another forum( http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=347537 ).

Anywayyy, until I find a workaround for the voltage problem I'll play on lower resolution which helps a lot with this problem (still far from solving it completely), I hoped not to get this low with the settings...

Something that interests me is if there is someone with 9800GTX/equivalent card of Nvidia who plays the game without this annoying flaw ?

I've got an NVidia 8800 GTX 512 and don't get that problem, I do occasionally get a load screen for a second or so when moving through an area, the most noticeable being between Flotsam and the collapsed bridge, apart from that most settings are on high and running smoothly. Also running XP not Vista or Win 7.
