ArcieAdam
I'm trying to create a new perk in the GECK called Clean Shot, which I want to do the opposite of the Bloody Mess perk. Specifically, it's a perk that disables a body part's ability to explode when shot with regular or armor piercing rounds. I want Hollow Point rounds to function normally, as is their normal behavior, and explosives and energy weapons won't be affected. But I'm having trouble figuring out how to create an effect to disable body part explosions, let alone for those specific ammunition types. Honestly, body parts explode enough without the Bloody Mess perk. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
davidlallen
I would love a way to have a perk like this, or a global mode which disabled the gibs (body part explosions). It may have been cool for a little while, but it gets tiring. I have been told, in another context, that there is no way to avoid gibs on humans, including all human NPCs. At least one other modder has had the same request that I had. I have a robot NPC, which is built as a human NPC wearing special armor. (See the "Most Dangerous Game" link in my sig for screenshots). When you get a crit hit on the robot, you see human gibs. This is undesirable. People who know more than me said there is no way to change this behavior for humans. They suggested for my robot, I could create a new creature type, and turn off gibs for the creature type. Sadly this involves copying all the possible animations the robot could use, which is a huge number and hard to figure out exactly. So I never tried. If anybody can suggest a way to solve your problem, perhaps I can use it to solve my related one.
Moraelin
Hmm... at least the German version does exactly what you seem to want. There are no gibs or blood or turning into piles of ash for humans, BUT only when the player does it. People capped by NPCs with an energy weapons still turn into small piles of ash, but never when the player does it. The German version for FO3 had no gibs or blood at all, ever, period. Even the Bloody Mess perk description only said that it causes +5% damage. No idea what's different though, or how it can be replicated. I know that for FO3 it's a different .exe, so maybe it takes more than a couple of settings in an .esp file.
ArcieAdam
I had a thought that the reason for the mess of decapitations and loss of limbs was that a fatal shot on a crippled limb would cause it to explode, but I'm not positive. If that's the case, then maybe it's possible, without the need to script anything, to make an actor effect that restores limbs upon death. Applied to you, your limbs would not explode, applied to enemies, neither would theirs. But that's only if that's the case, which I'm not sure about. Worth a shot at least, I think. I'll let it be known whether or not I'm successful. Edited July 11, 2011 by ArcieAdam
