Hi Guys, I have just reinstalled new vegas and steam, the game loads up fine from the shortcut, but from the fomm start up it gives me the message (This application has failed to start because binkw32 dll was not found, reinstalling may fix this problem) I have reinstalled twice and both times i get the message from steam (1 files failed to validate and will be reacquired) The fomm can't put the mods in the fallout new vegas data files, can anyone offer any help please I am totally at a loss, thanks all.

Thank you for the info it was very much appreciated, I have downloaded the file and I am unsure how to make it work, I only have a basic knowledge where computers are concerned, is there a walkthrough anywhere or would you have the time to direct me, thanks again for your help, regards bangabunny.

Alright.

If you don't have a decompression tool like Winrar or 7-Zip, you should download and install 7-Zip here. (Direct download link.)

Then download the .dll (which should come in a .zip file.) here. (Click the "Or you can Download binkw32.dll here" link which is the smaller link under the big one.)

After the .dll download is complete, navigate to the folder where you downloaded the .zip file, and right click it, and select "7-Zip" -> "Extract Here". Now you should see the binkw32.dll file, Copy/Cut this into "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas"

  • 5 months later...

I have a interest in this problem as it is happening on a second computer I've installed New Vegas on. I've already tried placing the binkw32.dll in the directory with the launcher and even went as far as to place a copy the system32 folder. I still get an error related to this dll.

The procedure entry point_BinkCopyToBufferRect@44 could not be located in the dynamic link library binkw32.dll

nothing I've found on google solves this and I'm trying a reinstall.
