GuyInDogSuit
My game was working just fine Thursday (other than a sudden need to go back to an older save because using the workshop corrupted my most recent files). Yesterday, I found out there was an update. Now my game crashes to desktop every time I try to load a save. I have about 70-ish mods installed, a lot of which were actually updated yesterday and today. I disabled them all, and managed to load my most recent save. As soon as I turned on any mods, I started having this CTD issue again. I turned off the three mods I tested, and now it won't load my saves. I can start a new game. I've turned off all mods, deleted the unused folders in the /data folder, deleted my ini files, verified my cache, etc, etc, and I still can't play the game. I've been reading on the Steam discussions and posting what my results are, with one or two players attempting to help me, but nothing's working so far. I'm pulling my hair out here. I broke down and uninstalled the game, deleted the folder, and downloaded the game again. I was able to load my saves once more, but as soon as I enabled any mods, even official ones, it's been crashing again, even after disabling them. Does anyone have any experience with this?[/background] Here is my plugins.txt. Edited May 1, 2016 by GuyInDogSuit
AnvilOfWar
Best advice I can give you is that since the survival mode with finalized, there was changes to the games UI, so mods using the interface folder will likely be the suspected mods until updates are made to them. I don't have any UI mods enabled. I couldn't even load my save WITHOUT mods. EDIT: I was able to load saves somehow, and even though I have all but the UI mods enabled, I got a warning that some mods were missing, even the enabled ones. And my character has no body or hair. Just a head and hands. Same with my companion. After messing with mods again, I am unable to load my saves again. Turns out you have to enable every mod manually in game. At Main Menu, go to the mods menu, then open the load order, and then enable every mod. It should work after that. I had to enable them again in NMM, on the latest version you have to every time you change mods for some reason. Also, mod update notifications are broken, and it doesn't install textures or meshes. VagabondXar
You can manually re-enable your mods by opening the plugins.txt file and putting a * infront of each mod name. This will activate your mods again. People were doing this during 1.5 beta time and it worked. Same deal now with the public 1.5.157 patch. Oh and to those that get a CTD, it is due to UI mods. Now remember that the UI mods were file drop ins and not actual .ESP type mods. Some of the first mods when FO4 released. A lot of people probably forgot that you had to manually make folders and edit fallout ini files to enable that stuff. Just remove anything from interface folder in your Data root and you should have your CTD solved. If you don't you can't load old saves OR start new game. The new 1.5 patch has new UI elements within it yeh, that's why the old outdated UI mods/changes are crashing the game. Hope this helps others as not a lot of people are cluing into this or bothering to tell people on forums/reddit etc...

RedRusty61
RyuShadow: C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Local\Fallout4\should be here Hope this helps. Many thanks to VagabondXar for the clarification on the interface folder. I cleared it and my game started normally after driving me crazy with CTD after the 1.5.157 update.
