Hey guys, I just wanted to see who else played skyrim at 21:9 and show you guys some screen shots of my game.

now this is 3440x1440p rather than your normal 2560x1080p.

Not quite 4k, but with all my mods, my ENB, and the monitor it self I would take this over 4k in a heart beat.

but just so you know, this is really taxing to run, 37fps avg with 2 980's!

2 980s you say? Hm. Even more proof of what i suspected. ENB simply isn't even remotely optimized. Although now more than anything, i'd like to see it run on a single 980 Ti. That would be interesting to see the performance difference. But yeah, 37 FPS just doesn't justify the visual enhancements for me. And more to the point, on paper, it just doesn't make sense to see that number. I expected somewhere well in the realm of 60 FPS or beyond with those cards, disregarding V-Sync. Very nice pictures, though. And on the other hand, we're talking about SLI here. Not perfect technology. Does not scale 100% performance. Man, now i REALLY want to see this running on a single 980 Ti.

And which resolution would be the least taxing 21:9 resolution? Perhaps lower it to that, with slight filtering options? Although at the resolution you're playing at now, filtering options aren't really necessary so they could be turned off altogether. That would be the trade-off.

I believe Boris still uses a 680? That might explain that he cannot improve to newer generation cards.

Running at something like 2560x1080 isn't worth it in the least, I run with 2xAA .

at 1440p I can get a stable 70fps, with my ENB.

But let me say, I've tested this rig with a titan X but it ran like a tree being rubbed by sand paper with attached to a drill head.

meaning hot.... Anyway they were almost exactly the same maybe 3fps better on the titan X...

But just so you guys know, I've since done alot of tweaking, messed with both windows, and ENB settings.

also from what I can see I get an extra 12fps on avg, most of the time I avg 48fps now, in more open settings with less objects I get around 53fps.

And I did some testing with Vram on skyrim and gta5, and really it killed me to admit it but I could not believe the fact that gta was the one that ate my vram.

Skyrim maxed out at 3 to 3.5gb's rather than having gta5 on max setting just drop like a steal bar when it kept capping out at 4gb's.

Hi

That sounds about right.

With my single 980 ti I am at 70fps at 2560 X 1440 with Vivid Weathers EMB. Running at 60(vsync) gives me some overhead so I get a lot less CTDs. the same ENB setup gets 34fps average at 4k. Vivid Weathers performance ENB puts me in the low 40s at 4k but my 1440 setup looks better.

zax141's observations are correct. There is a big visual leap from 1080 to 1440 in this game. Not so much going from 1440 to 4k. 1440 X 2560 is the sweet spot & 1440 X 3440 even better.

The only reason I went 4k instead of 3440 X 1440 is that good 4k monitors are half the price. I use a Samsung 28"($500) that has superb 1440 output. Some games I do play at 4k, like Fallout 4 Fallout 3/NV. Most modern games I play at 1440. Games like Witcher 3 & DA I look about the same in 1440 & 4k. Only older games that have lots of visual mods look & run beyond belief good at 4k.

I have also noted that that Skyrim doesn't like to use more than 3.5gbs as well. When I use more I run out of ram, not vram.

ENB has greatly improved for high-end cards. .266 & .279 were a nightmares to setup but .305 is about perfect. No stutter, no lag. Frame rate performance has dropped slightly but a perfectly smooth experience is worth it.

ENB at 1440+ is not for the weak. My 970 that performed well at 1080 did not at 1440 & was quickly replaced by a single 980. The 980 ran well but was not close to 60fps. The 980 ti is the only card that I have ever bought that has lived up to the hype. I went from the low 40s with the 980 to the low 70s.

At 1080 it doesn't matter what textures you use the game looks better at 1440. With the right texture setup & ENB the game is past awesome at 1440.

If you got the caps, go for it.
