Request: Arrows doubling as melee weapons

I started a play-through as a marksman character, and found that I disliked having to switch to a blade pretty much whenever my opponent/s got close up. So I was wondering if there is anyone out there who can/already has made a mod that allows arrows or - more accurately - just one arrow to be used as a melee weapon. I do, however, realise that as arrows are classed as an entirely different kind of weapon, it would be difficult. Probably. In that case, a melee weapon modelled after an arrow would be good.

Thanks,

Alternatively could a bow be used as a quarterstaff?

That'd also be pretty cool. Was originally thinking about Legolas in the LotR movies, and a small part of a Robin Hood TV series I saw recently. But the staff thing is pretty cool too. :)

Yes, I thought of Legolas and the arrow-through-an-eyeslit instantly when I saw the comment. However, a spontaneous use of one arrow as an improvised stilletto and a whole eange of arrow-based substitute weapons are two rather different things. I also thought of DC Comics "Green arrow" and his range of specialist arrows for different jobs.

However, I believe that the alternate use for a bow might be eaier to create in practice, BUT ... we're banging into the limitations on new weapon classes built into Oblivion. The bow IS already an off-hand weapon, looked at one way, so it MIGHT be doable using something like the Defensive staves mod and a very ingenious modder.

It's possible. I've seen something like this done before with spears.

Basically the simplest way is to assign a script to a button on the keyboard that switches from a bow to a melee weapon that looks like a bow. So you need a modeller to make the weapon on the right hand, then a scripter to create the script. The script wouldn't really be complicated I guess (provided there are no new animations being made and the bow is treated like a sword), neither would the modelling - you just need to find someone who will do it.

If you really want to use arrows, the script may have a few changed for realism. For example, you probably wouldn't get a lot of use from one arrow. You might have one swing per arrow then they get stuck in the target, but this is where the scripting gets tricky. Converting a bow would be easier.
