Want to re-use a face.

Recommended Posts

Okay to put it simply:

-Made character in character creator. She turned out perfect. Her portrait turned out perfect.

-Loaded up game.... selected a spell I didn't really care for. Decided to remake.

-Can't figure out how to remake. All attempts look off and I can't remember what I did.

-Download Face replacer. Only does .mor file. Doesn't replace portrait.

-Thought I make a preset. Downloaded Toolset. Can't make mrf file (via another tutorial) from pre-existing. So can't get the .mop to make the preset.

How to I take the face (and the portrait, this is important too) from my savegame, and make a new character with different spells, but the same face?

Or at the very least, how can I transfer my portrait to a different savegame? At least that way, I could make a generic new char, transfer the .mor file, and then transfer the portrait.

Would be nice if I could make the face pop up in the character creator though.....

Hey there LancerChronics;

While you can't get "that face" back at the CC stage, you can get it onto a new Warden.

There are many mods that assist with the process, I happen to use "DA Face Replacer" (DAFR) because it also has additional export, name change, and inventory increase options.

The basic process is to;

1. Create a new character, (of the right race and gender) and play until you can make your first save.

2. Use your utility of choice to extract the face you want from a saved game that contains it.

3. Use same utility to import the "right face" into the save you just made! :thumbsup:

I have to go with Thandal on this one, that the Face Replacer is the easiest method.

You can also use this method, since you have the toolset- http://www.damods.com/forums/index.php?PHPSESSID=8517102bc4c978c876de3b509d4b613e&topic=728.0 which is using the toolset to edit two different savegames. And the portrait information is also there in the savegame.

tho be aware that the toolset will not open up a savegame that is around 1 megabyte in size :(

You can also choose to respec your character, if you want to. Basically- reassign the points, spells, etc. Just do a search in the downloads section for "respec" and you'll come up with some options for that.

Thank you both. The DAFR worked for moving the face between savegames. The toolset got me the portrait back just right, now that I knew what to open and where to look.

Toolset can be a bit glitchy though with it being Out of Memory on most savegames.

Heyas Lancer :)

Cool deal, really glad to hear that you've got your new character looking the way that you want him/her to :thumbsup:

And glad to have been able to give some input that was helpful in that endeavor :)

The toolset.... yeah.... there's a reason why it's got the nickname of the "the Toolsh** " or "toolcrap" :(

I've found that most of my savegames from about the beginning to the middle are ok, but after that, it's just a no-go :mad:
