NorthWolf
As far as I know this is easy to compensate for. Simply change the recoil timer in the script.I'm not sure I understand. Which script? I've been working in Blender but I really have no clue which .kf file I should be modifying... I've managed to confirm I can mess with certain animations but none of them seem to govern recoil. Nor do I know of any associated scripts in the GECK. Sorry for noobishness, I've been looking for tutorials but nothing has been helpful for this specific task.
danjako43
Worry yourself not anymore! For I have found a temporary fix. The fix is done using the official modder for NV, the G.E.C.K. This works for ANY AUTOMATIC assault rifles or SMG's that have their ironsights screwed up. Or pretty much, it works for ANY two-handed rifles. I don't see heavy weapons or one-handed guns having this problem, so it's aight. Fix Instructions: 1) Open up your weapon data using the GECK. 2) Go to the "Game Data" tab for your weapon and change the "fire rate" to 4.0000 3) Open the "Art and Sound" tab for your weapon and change "Attack Multiplier" to 8.0000 (the "Attack Multiplier is on your right, inside the "Animation" box) 4) Change the "Attack Anim" to "AttackRight." 5) Save your gun data and test out the gun. 6) for step 2 and 3, you can change the "fire rate" and the "Attack Multiplier" to any number, but 4 and 8 works best. Play around, and report back, it'd help a lot! The ironsight are now so smooth, they work justl ike in Call of Duty!!!! No more jerking like your character has epilepsy while firing a rifle, just slight movements while firing. Sweet! Why does this work? The "AttackRight" animation for firing is from the plasma rifle. I noticed that the plasma rifle has no jerking animation while firing, so i use that animation instead of the regular "firingloop" animation (which is the standard for all automatic guns). Oh, and there's a minor problem. Firing single shots in third person mode looks like your character's left hand is repeatedly squeezing the barrel. Weird, but it works in first person.. Also, tapping the mouse for quick semi-automatic shots is undoable, which is inherent in the animation. If you can edit animations, I'd say create a whole new set of the "AttackRight" animation that doesn't cause your left hand to squeeze every time you fire. NorthWolf
That's pretty smart, mate. Kudos! I'll keep trying to find a way to change the base animation so that it can be done more smoothly, but this is great.
NorthWolf
So, I think I know what's going wrong with the animation itself. In normal attack animations, the head moves forward and backwards to make the camera sort of shake from the force of firing. This is fine, since it doesn't genuinely effect the sight picture in any way. However, with the 2haattackis.kf file, the camera actually starts displaced on the Z axis such that it's above where the camera should be. This would cause exactly what's happening -- the weapon appears to drop slightly, but what's actually happening is the camera is being set up a good bit on the Z Axis and repeatedly dropping down. I'm trying to figure out a way to import the animation into Blender. Edit: Or... not. I have no idea what's up with my suite of tools, but nothing acts the same way twice. Blargh... danjako43
Aw that's a shame. My method works great with full auto, but gets really really clonky with semi shots, which I do a lot since ammo don't come cheap. So I guess My fix works if you're willing to press the left mouse button and never let go. Again, it's only a temporary fix.
