NorthWolf
I posted on another topic regarding this, but I have it working it seems... just, uh, not doing what the guides I've read are telling me to do. The problem I'm having is that adjusting the actual sighting node isn't helping in a lot of cases because it causes the sight picture to get ruined, which results in me adjusting the actual NiTriStrips. This aligns everything and maintains a proper sight picture, which is what I want. The models look fine still, but is there anything I should be aware of that I'm going to ruin, or a better way to do this without messing with the mesh? hadoumastery
This is actually very simple. Sometimes authors make meshes that aren't particularly aligned properly to sight through, I don't think there should be any problems fixing this, other than using a version of blender that is too new since it causes NIFSkope errors and such. (Anything beyond python 2.7 versions will do this) But honestly, if it's not about proper alignment of the mesh, then it's probably more about what directions left, right, down, or up the node is pointing, nodes for ISA don't simply point straight all the time. Sometimes, the node can actually be tilted down very slightly to line up the sights properly, so you may not even need to edit meshes if that's the case, just add a new ##SightingNode that points straight on the sights. NorthWolf
Well, all I've been doing is rotating or moving parts of the mesh (the NiTriNodes, or whatever they're called) by very small amounts (less than 0.5) to align the sights properly when adjusting the sighting node is inappropriate... I'm not any sort of artist so doing this work in Blender is undesirable to me. Is Blender the only other way, and aside from that is the method I'm using detrimental at all? It doesn't seem to be during play testing but it's safer to ask, I figure, since I haven't found much documentation on this and am a total nooblet to it.
hadoumastery
I don't think it will cause any problems. And really.. anything like blender would do. I personally use wings3d. It's harder to port it to NV using wings, but to me, it's easier than using blender to make a new object, and since blenders python problems with NIFSkope I don't use blender at all anymore.
