Nothing - the game is still crashing on me

Looks like my Oblivion days are over

Does your game rebuild the Ini files when deleted? that may solve the issue, or you need an Direct x and dot net frame work update, that could also cause it not to work on vista.

Maybe you should move all your important Oblivion files off of your computer and delete all the others. Go on a purge and get rid of every last vestige of Oblivion. I am talking about everything. Savegames, mods, programs, the whole works.

Then you could spend 20 minutes reinstalling vanilla Oblivion and have almost a 100% chance of having it work. Then you could slowly and cautiously start adding mods one at a time with lots of play-testing in between each installation. Sure, it would take forever getting your mods reinstalled, but your game would always be usable, and if anything went wrong, you would know that the problem was caused by the last mod you installed.

Unless you want your Oblivion days to be over. If the work outweighs the pleasure, that is an option.

I do have a second HD I springboard off of after reformats, so at least I'm not going from scratch. I am going to take things a lot slower this time (I just dumped a arseload of mods in and started merging so in my haste...) .
