CrashMasterJMM
Hey guys... I'm trying to make a mod as I did with Skyrim, of which one of my tasks is to edit npc inventories as I see fit. However, I have been coming across NPCs in the actors list that the CK will not allow me to do so. As an *example* only (not fixated on this NPC, but the problem itself) Actors-->Leveled-->BoSAirport_LvlBoSSoldier_CombatArmor_Auto_AirportScene02. The default outfit drop menu is greyed out and can not be accessed. Nothing can be accessed, actually. EVERYTHING about the NPC's inventory is untouchable. Simply put, how do I make the CK give me access to the inventories of NPCs like this? And on a related topic to this, I've noticed some NPC body textures don't match the head/neck textures. Is there a fix for that? Or is it something that is corrected in game? Any help would be appreciated =^_^=
seekingthesun
That's because that's a leveled npc whose inventory is procedurally generated from a leveled list. That Lvl prefix means you'd have to edit the larger leveled list for Bos Soldiers. If we were to compare our two save games that soldier(under the power armor) might look completely different because they are different Edited May 4, 2016 by seekingthesun
CrashMasterJMM
Ok... thanks for the info :) So... how would I do that... step by step?
CrashMasterJMM
I'm posting on my phone at the moment and can't recall the character's name... but I tried to edit the inventory of a named Railroad NPC (the black female npc) and came up with the same problem. Inventory untouchable.
tartarsauce2
if you're talking about the mohawk chick (is she black? though? I haven't gotten that far into the game but I did watch a playthrough so I dunno if that's who you're talking about) that has a name to do with heavy weapons or somethingis it glory? the "heavy" was about to resort to calling her spanks the destroyerhttp://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/c/c6/Fo4_Glory.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20151122210236don't you have to create an over-ride or something? - CK or FO4Edit aside this seems like a relevant thingbasically, it references similar to the original file, but fallout4.esm is protected from being screwed with or something - because at the very least then if you mess something up you can disable the mod and just pretend the whole mess never happened (and not screw yourself over big time - it's a pre-emptive "backup" system where there's a special "quarantine zone" called an over-ride that's a plugin that can be nuked with abandon and no consequences :nuke: )I'd suggest creating an over-ride in FO4Edit, like, I might sound like a sycophant but unless you're doing fancy things it seems like the CK is harder to use and slower than FO4Edit - I'm gonna try to learn it in the near future, already done balancing, gameplay assessments etc to manipulate aspects of the game and learn how files relate to each other for self-teaching in order to become vocationally proficient at program thingies to get a career someday in the far future - but for now I've given myself a headache from it so am taking a breakso using FO4Edit, what I'd do is find the thing in question in the appropriate folder (should be easy enough to do with patience) right click the entry, copy over-ride into (new file)then, you can go to it and at COCT - Count (right after the SPECIAL stats segment, above AI DATA)also, TPLT (template) of hers says gunnerbossI think the TPLT might be one of those things for special named NPC'sshe has a level list that involves the minigun level listbut her TPLT, well, you'll have to like, kill her to find out what she drops specifically, remember what level you are when you do it, and then see if the gunnerboss corresponding to that drops similar stuff via the gunnerboss template level listcause there's different ones for different levelsbut examples of a max level (78) gunnerboss are 2 stealth boy, LLE_Perk_scrounger100LL_Caps_Change15fortune finder small, grenade_frag15Gunner_Weapon_Highso, the gunnerboss template on her TPLT data might be where the information comes fromyou can also directly edit the level list of stuff she drops at any rate, or has, I'm not sure how that one works, but she should have one that says like "Minigun" just after SPECIAL stats or something
CrashMasterJMM
@_@ thanks for taking the time to write all that... I have very basic grasp...ish... of what you were saying. But let's pretend I don't know a blasted thing beyond simply either placing objects in world spaces, or opening NPC stat windows in the CK, and explain to me in "baby steps" what I have to do from beginning to end in order to unlock the ability to manipulate NPC npc inventories that are initially untouchable. Please don't take me as ungreatful... I am truely for everyone who answes. But I am beginner level with the FO4 CK, only having some experience with in world and NPC Skyrim modding. Last time I came across this issue in Skyrim CK, I remember a check box that I could tick/untick that made the inventory accessable. Concise baby step please? :) Edited May 4, 2016 by CrashMasterJMM
seekingthesun
Well first, I wouldn't recommend even trying to edit one of those generic, leveled NPC's because whatever you do to one will be done to the others unless you create a new leveled list from scratch and assign it to that NPC in particular. I can tell you the steps, I just need to know what you're trying to do. Why that NPC in particular? Do you want all Bos soldiers to have this change? CrashMasterJMM
seekingthesun, thanks for this... my goal without giving too much away right now is basically to manipulate the outfits of all female NPCs one at a time. This problem is the only road block.
seekingthesun
uhhh..... well those leveled npcs aren't male or female, their sex is generated at initialization. If you want to edit those you should look under your armor item itself and add a female world model(use f04edit)
CrashMasterJMM
is it glory? the "heavy" was about to resort to calling her spanks the destroyerhttp://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/c/c6/Fo4_Glory.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20151122210236 Yes... it was Glory... but now for some reason after loading the CK again, her inventory can now be edited. In my original post, I made a slight error, the path is actually: Actors-->Leveled-->Female-->*character name nere* The genders are separated according to the path. SOME of them can have their inventories edited, but... as before, some have all inventory options greyed out. Check it out in the CK. http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg526/spafmagic/Fo4CK%20Character%20Edit.jpg Since there's nothing to lose, and I can back up my ESP and save games before I risk some weird crap happening... what must I do to "unlock" them?
