Mesh becomes invisible in Nifskope when a correct texture path is loaded

This problem is pretty weird so bear with me, basically I'm setting up nifskope to display textures, so I go to settings > resources and select the path to the folder where I extracted the game textures, the one that contains /textures, /meshes etc. so the paths are correct. When I do that, the mesh I have open of a vanilla item, that was previously showing with no textures, becomes entirely invisible. Selecting the Trishape shows a yellow dot in the center of the grid. If I only have paths in resources that do not contain a matching texture, the mesh shows up fine (with no textures). It gets invisible as well if I select the .ba2 containing the texture for that object.

 

I'd appreciate any help, this is a bit annoying.
