ShortyMcNostril
Alright,Here's the problem:Whenever I go into Ebonheart, it either takes forever to load (5 minutes and up - and that's after the "loading area" bar has filled up) or it just freezes after the bar is full. When it does load, I get a whoppin' 5 frames per second, no matter the view settings: Be it 100 distance units or triple the normal distance, I still get 5 fps. What puzzles me is the fact that I have been playing morrowind flawlessly for quite a while now, I haven't added any plugins in a long time and the only thing I recall doing before this problem is defragmenting my drive. So I'm left wondering why it crashes now when it hasn't crashed since I fired up morrowind for the first time. I've done a lot of searching to find out, and somebody in another thread said that after a long time playing a lot of scripts are opened and that eats up CPU resources. I'd be willing to bet this is the problem, since starting a new game seems to fix the problem... However, that brings up another problem; how in the heck am I supposed to get my game back? Before you ask, I have all the latest gfx/mobo drivers and I've already tried disabling all the plugins I'm running. The results: With no plugins loaded, everything works like it did yesterday (perrrrrfectly :P), but as soon as I load the Super Adventurers plugin (which is the most script heavy of the lot), the problem is back. However, it only happens with my saved game. When I start a new game, everything is fine regardless of plugins. Cliffnotes for the lazy:- I've been playing for months now with lotsa plugins, and just today Ebonheart freezes while loading.- When I start a new game (with all of my plugins still loaded) everything works fine.- When I disable all my plugins, everything works again.- I think it may have to do with too many scripts running. Help would be appreciated.
Marxist ßastard
Well, the first thing you're going to need to do is load all your plugins one by one until you reach the one that's giving you the problems... It would also help if you could say how the problem came about.
ShortyMcNostril
It just happened today, for apparently no reason.I just decided I'd head back to Mournhold, so I took a ship to Ebonheart, and TADA, it all goes to hell. I seem to have found the source of the problem, but I still don't know how to fix it.I believe there is a rather severe script accumulation or something that bogs down my CPU when I enter Ebonheart; when I use the "Togglescripts" command (which turns off all scripts), my frame rate goes from the dreaded 5 to a 10-18 fps and the load time is reduced quite a bit. While this is a nice temporary fix, I really shouldn't have to bring up the console and enter commands whenever I want to go into ebonheart... As for the plugin that's causing the troubles, I'd say it's Super Adventurers, which adds lots of scripted NPCs. However, the problem is not from the plugin itself, but more from the engine not being able to manage the scripts after a while (or some scripts looping, or something like that) since it's worked well for months and just now it began slowing down. I need to find a way to reset all scripts in a given area or something...
Marxist ßastard
Well, if you can't play without the offending plugin, then the only option is to save a game without any plugins loaded and work off of that. However, it will reset all plugin data, not just the scripts.
ShortyMcNostril
I think I'll try that. After all, there are no quests in that plugin. My only concern would be character stats and maybe items, but I guess I can recover those with console commands. Thanks for the advice.
