Unable to exit console

Hi everyone, I have a problem; I was going to start a game on Survival, but in order to fix my FOV and set timescale, I started on Very Hard to be able to access the console, and then switch to Survival. So I type in;

 

FOV 90

refreshini

 

with the pipboy up, as per usual on a new character, but then it won't let me exit the console, pressing the key only makes a rectangular shape typed into the console..? So.. why? And is there a way to exit the console, with a console command? >.<

Edit: It appears to be the refreshini command that does it, but I have to in order to keep my FOV setting. :I
