masterchief1517
What happens is that whenever I pick up an item, it won't appear in my character's menu, whether I bought, pulled it out of a container, or grabbed it off the ground. But if I save and reload, some of the newly picked up items will appear whilst others disappear that I had before. And I know the items are there, just not showing up because I had a sword equipped, did the save and reload trick and the sword was still equipped, but it was no longer listed in the item menu. This only happens on one of my characters on a few of it's save games, and going back to a previous save is not an option unfortionately.
Poodebah
I've just started having this problem, as well. I'd like some confirmation as to what the problem might be, but from some quick testing myself, it seems to be the result of having too much in your inventory. I tested this at a prison, so all my items would be safely confiscated and loaded in the prison's chest, since if I tried to put them into a chest all at once, the same problem seemed to happen (items weren't showing up in the chest when I'd put them in). I then took an item from my companion after collecting my full inventory and it vanished. Then I repeated the same test after reloading, leaving all my items in the chest, and this time, the item was in my inventory. Then, I took all my items out of the chest, took the item from my companion and it vanished. Put all the items back into the chest and checked my inventory again, and the item was there. This tells me there's a limit to how many items Oblivion can register. As I said, I think both you and I would really appreciate it if someone confirmed this for us, but for now, I would suggest, and am going, to only keep only a small amount of items on my character. Guess it's time to start using my companion as a pack-mule.
