patch 1.4 = companion limit no longer applies to Raul?

Not that he's one of my preferred companions anyway, but I noticed yesterday that I was able to recruit him although I already had Veronica and ED-E (I'm not currently running any unlimited companion mod). I'm pretty sure I tried that in a previous game and wasn't able to.

I took a quick gander at the scripts for Raul, Veronica and some others and at the top level the logic is there to allow only one companion.

 

That said, since they did make a lot of changes in 1.4 its possible something went amiss somewhere else that might set the number of followers to an incorrect value. It's a quest global so it could get set anywhere.

 

Any chance you left Veronica waiting somewhere for too long and she's actually left and gone home now and not really a follower at the moment? Also, as I'm sure you know, sending anyone to The Lucky 38 is still counted as fired, not simply waiting.

 

If that's not it, I have no idea.

Nope, Veronica and Ed-E were active companions and standing beside my char at the time. I was wondering whether the whole companion thing had been altered, but I went back to the lucky 38 and tried to re-recruit Boone (I'd dismissed him to the 38 earlier) and wasn't able to.

Not a ton, maybe 15 or so atm. Started a new game because of some problems I was having with my previous game - finally gave up and started fresh, and now I'm slowly adding mods as I go.

 

I'm running unlimited companions now, but wasn't at the time of the Raul thing. My companion mods at that time were sandbox, antivenom script, and playable clothing. I also had the Willow companion but I doubt that affected anything. After I tried, unsuccessfully, to recruit Boone right after I was able to recruit Raul with 2 existing vanilla companions I tried recruiting Cass and again got the "you can only have 1 follower at a time" message (that was just before I installed unlimited companions).

 

As a totally off-topic aside, it used to drive me nuts how waiting or dismissed companions would be transported to Vault 22 right after my char entered. But I never had that problem with vault 34. They fixed the vault 22 thing with the 1.4 patch, but I played vault 34 this afternoon with Cass, Veronica and WIllow as companions (ie after installing unlimited companion mod). All of a sudden, Raul and Boone showed up after I dove into that first underwater spot to get the key or password or whatever. I dismissed both of 'em back to the lucky 38, but just a bit later Ed-E showed up - just after I went through that first door on the way down to the armoury. Raul and Ed-e were active but waiting back at the 38, but Boone had been dismissed at the time (also back at the 38).
