Syntia13
Hello everyone.Last week I started working on a new mod, happily tinkered with it for a few days, and then two days ago Creation Kit went on strike.I can start CK with no problem, but every time I try to load a mod - any mod, I tried several, both complex and very simple ones - CK stops responding, and after a minute or so a 'creation kit stopped working' box pops up. What could be the cause of it? Was there any new update from Steam? I know that one of their 'updates' made it impossible to open to instances of CK without a bothersome workaround. Could this be a similar problem, did anyone else experience this? EDIT 15.05.2016: with your kind advice I got CK working, but run into another issue: CK now refuses to let me drag additional files into the 'create archive' box; If correctly identifies entirely new files used in a mod, but won't let me add any additional files, like facedata (nif and dds files) of existing NPCs. Do I have to go back to the ancient archive.exe to create bsa file? Will it even still work? Edited May 15, 2016 by Syntia13
Bleahster
I am having the same problem! Likewise happily working on my personal mod throughout Sunday, then Monday suddenly it crashes non-stop, sometimes not even finishing turning on but mainly when I try to load a file! I have tried reinstalling multiple times as well as several of the fixes suggested online but to no success! Any help would be appreciated!
Madrias
Same, honestly. Worked fine on May 2, but since the 3rd, it's been nothing but a crash-fest. I can load any data file, even just Skyrim.esm, wait for it to load, it'll appear to work fine for anywhere from 2 to 10 seconds, then instantly lock up. Absolutely annoying, because I was in the middle of several little projects. I've tried reinstalling the CK several times, verified it through Steam a couple times, verified my Skyrim through Steam once, wiped out my .ini files for Skyrim and also for the CK as a test and that didn't work. Also tried Compatibility mode for Vista, Windows XP SP3, Windows XP SP2. Tried launching it as an Administrator. Also tried uninstalling ENBoost and that didn't work, either. Skyrim runs fine, as does Nexus Mod Manager (granted, I'm using an older version without profiles), SKSE works, TES5Edit still works. Running Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit, in case that helps anyone figure out what this issue is.
Aragorn58
Have you tried running Steam in "offline Mode"
Syntia13
@Bleahster,what system do you have? I have Win 7 Home premium 64 bit, @Madrias has Win 7 pro 64 bit. Maybe it's Window's fault? @Aragorn58; I was actually in offline mode when trouble started, since after last update that was the only way to run two instances of CK at the same time, and I needed to compare some data between mods. Since then I tried to run CK both with Steam online and offline, it makes no difference. I get instant crash upon loading any file, even only skyrim.esm. NexusComa
Just checked mine it's working fine. Keep in mind:If you click in the CK while loading it will show that box. Click continue. Possible fixes:1. Reboot and try again.2. End "get windows 10" in the taskmanager.3. Verify the game cache.4. Uninstall and delete everything ... re-install.5. Set the CK executable with run as admin.6. Set the CK to as compatible with XP.
Bleahster
I have Windows 10 64 bit.
Syntia13
@NexusComa: Ok, so I experimented a little with your advice, and what worked for me was setting the CK executable to 'run as admin', in conjunction with turning off "get windows 10" (by 'end process' for GWX.exe in task manager). I can get back to work now, thank you! @Bleahster - oh, you have win 10? Huh. So either our problems have very different causes, or the 'get win 10' prompt was only a minor factor in mine. Try setting CK to run as admin and let me know if it works for you.BTW, how does Skyrim work with Win10, and is it worth all the fuss in general? Bleahster
I managed to get it to work with Compatibility for Windows XP SP3 and running as Admin! Also TBH the only difference I noticed with Skyrim is you can't alt-tab out anymore, other than that its pretty much like it was on 8.1!
Maduck89
I have the exact same problem on windows 7. The CK was working fine a few days ago. Now every time i load an esp its good for like 10 seconds, then crashes. This is upsetting because i was just about finished on an armor update. Ive tried Compatibility for Windows XP SP3 and running as Admin, reinstalling etc. but nothing works. it this an update issue?
