demonmarine
Alright this is really weird especially considering I never had this problem before. I recently decided to reinstall New Vegas now that I've purchased Dead Money and Honest Hearts. Months ago when I was first playing aside from some minor bugs everything ran smooth with no real problems. Now suddenly I get the most random bug where my head will just randomly explode and I die. I have no idea why it's happening. Currently I'm under the suspicion that perhaps I'm running way to many mods at once (is that even possible?). The last time I played I also used several mods but never this much. I have all my mods updated and am using FOMM so it would be odd if that was the case though, and more odd is it only seems to affect me after I fast travel (haven't confirmed or denied this yet though) as I've managed to walk all the way from Goodsprings to a modded player home close to the Great Khan's location without problem (other than the dangerous enemies of course). It's after I fast travel from there back to Goodsprings that within minutes my head randomly explodes. As hilarious as it is it gets irritating very fast. I've looked around and haven't been able to find anyone with the same problem so I'm sure I must be doing something stupid (again, under the suspicion I'm running WAY to many mods). Any help would be appreciated.
omegaspectre
Hmm, maybe it's something to do with Dead Money (explosive collars). Try loading without the DLC and see if it still happens.
GothikaGeist
There was a mod to fix this. It's caused by a glitch in Dead Money. Here's the mod.http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=40520
demonmarine
Well that's odd as hell....though it is Obsidian so I'm not surprised. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say even though I haven't started the Dead Money stuff the game assumes I have the collar on anyway and blows me up probably. *shrugs*, Whatever, I'll try both suggestions and see if it helps. demonmarine
Ok now I'm starting to get pissed. Thanks for the suggestions guys but no luck. Neither the mod nor disabling Dead Money did the trick so we can rule that out. At this point I'm gonna have to start disabling mods and seeing what works won't I? Either it's one of the updates for the mods I've used before or it's one of the two or three new mods I've gotten, which is odd seeing as how they all have very good ratings and tons of downloads so I would assume their reliable and well made. Maybe I should just start a new save, I've only talked to Doc Mitchell and visited my player home, nothing else.
GothikaGeist
Try a new save then, keep us posted and I'll see what info I can dig up.
demonmarine
I am seriously lost. I've tried a new save and I disabled two of my new mods. This time I skipped over going to my modded player home and continued onward to Primm. I managed to walk all the way to Primm, entered the Sheriff's house, and shortly after exiting, boom, another head explosion and I died. I thought I had actually fixed this but no, it's still a problem. At this point I'm thinking I wasted money buying Dead Money and Honest Hearts because before I reinstalled this game and downloaded those two everything worked smoothly. Maybe it's Honest Hearts? I don't know. I'm just annoyed that a game that was working beautifully only half a year ago is now unplayable. Short of walking around in god mode I can't play, and who knows if that will stop me from exploding. Here is the one odd thing though. The two similarities I see is during my first save, I would exit my player home at around night time, fast travel to Goodsprings, arrive there still at night, and that's when I would die. Here on my second save, I exit another building, the Sheriff's Office, it's night time, and I die. Is it something with the night time? I do have a mod that creates darker nights. Or could it be the Electro-City mod? Maybe through some magical reason, the brightened lights created by the mod vaporize my head? I don't know, especially considering I had both of these mods (older versions of course) running smoothly the last time I played. I'm running out of patience here so I'm just gonna list my system specs and the mods I'm running. Windows 7 Home Premium x86Intel Core2 Quad 2.4GHZ2GB DDR2 RAMNvidia 9600 GT Think that's all that matters for specs. Here's the mods. I'll mention which one's have been updated and which new ones Ive installed since I last played without any head explodey. I also feel it worthy to note I haven't been able to find the Less Armor and Weapon Degradation mod's on the New Vegas Nexus and I can't recall where I did get them however they worked previously and haven't been updated so it seems unlikely their the cause. GothikaGeist
Wow, I doubt it's a load order issue, have you tried reinstalling? Hell toggle god mode let the explosion occur and then see if it happens again after you survive it (in god mode).
