demonmarine
Ha, it's starting to stump you too isn't it? I haven't tried reinstalling since that's basically a last resort for me, trying to find less time consuming alternatives although at this point I doubt I'll find an easy answer. Gonna try the god mode idea next though I just have to get lucky. The head explosion thing seems to occur a bit randomly although I'm never in game for more than a few minutes anyway before it happens. Also I wonder why it's only my head. The rest of my body always remains in tact and nothing around me ever seems to take damage or move, at least not unless my body falls on top of it. GothikaGeist
It's because the explosion is the same as the collar (Slave collar bomb) explosion from Dead Money... which only decapitates you. If all that fails:Completely uninstall New Vegas Uninstall all FOMODSInstall New VegasInstall FOMODS MANUALLY Edited July 20, 2011 by GothikaGeist
demonmarine
I suppose, though I have turned off Dead Money and tried the fix mod to no avail so it seems it might be something else. *sigh* If god mode doesn't work I'll just try a fresh reinstall. demonmarine
OH OH OH UPDATE! Tried god mode and an explosion still occurred, but this time I survived. Whatever it is it seems like something is scripted to set off an explosion. It really does seem like dead money. I'm gonna try turning off everything and anything related to dead money. The DLC itself, the clothing merchant, the hideout patch, whatever.
GothikaGeist
Good news, keep us posted. Though I might log off soon.
demonmarine
No worries, I've got other things to occupy my time, like testing this thing out. And on that note we may have success. I ran the game with Dead Money, the Underground Hideout Dead Money Patch, and the Vanilla Clothing Merchant disabled and everything else enabled. Killed two of the enemies in Primm, then sat there for a while, long enough for the camera to start rotating, and still nothing. Fast traveled to Goodsprings, nothing. Waited 7 hours to see if the flow of time would do anything, nothing. I'm not sure if I've found the problem since it did occur randomly but I just as well may have found it, and it is in one of those 3 files. Now I've disabled Dead Money before and tried the fix so that doesn't seem likely. Either the Hideout Patch or the Clothing Merchant is apparently, and I'm taking a shot in the dark here, installing an invisible collar on me and sets it off for some reason around night time. Removing the Hideout patch is of no loss to me, the hideout itself still functions without it, it just won't reflect any of the quests I've finished during the DLC. The clothing merchant is a bit more of a hit but with the ranger gear mod I'm usually in the NCR Ranger outfit anyway so it's a hit I can take. I'm going to try and see which of those two is the culprit now.
GothikaGeist
Nice discovery. The Vanilla Merchant seems likely since he has direct control of in-game apparel. Though with the Scripts running alongside a Dead Money Patch, who knows? Edited July 20, 2011 by GothikaGeist
demonmarine
Alright so re-enabled Dead Money and the Hideout Patch but left the merchant off. Yet again I killed two of the convicts, let the game sit, and nothing. I'm thoroughly convinced its the clothing merchant somehow conflicting with Dead Money. I could always re-enable it but if the game is working I'm not gonna try and fix it anymore or intentionally break it. Don't fix what ain't broke. I'm gonna send a message to the mods creator now and notify him that his mod seems to have some issues. Also as for the Dead Money collar fix mod, it is odd since I even loaded the mod before the clothing merchant but I'm guessing that mod only works when actually performing the DLC, outside of it the mod doesn't stop my head from exploding. Anyway thanks for the help guys, GothikaGeist specifically. As for getting those clothes, whatever I can use the console for that.
GothikaGeist
Just one thing I have to add. The mod at the bottom always overrides the one above. So if the merchants mod was below the collar removal mod, the merchant "won" the override thus preventing the "removal" of the collar. xD <br>BUT! Like you said, don't fix it if it's not broken. Testing is good and all, but videogames were meant to be played for fun, not tested by the consumer for bugs. xD Edited July 21, 2011 by GothikaGeist
KainAzeroth
Was a permanent solution ever found for this problem? I'm having a lot of issues with it. Wondering if it's Underground hideout since that seems to be the only mod we have in common.
