Hello, I am new here, and this looked like the place I should go to to ask about this, so I'll post this here. I do like the 50's/60's look of the Fallout series. Another series that also has a 50's/60's theme is Team Fortress. This got me to thinking, "wouldn't it be fun to skin your main character (or the npc's/items/decor/etc) as characters or items from TF2? I do hope there is someone else out there who agrees this would be a good and/or fun idea. X-/ Of course, if this was made into a port instead of a download., you'd have to have both games in your ownership to get around legal issues. To keep things simple, the characters should just be just a basic skin and clothes (for balance reasons, simplicity, etc.). For example: Let's take the engineer, as Texas is (relatively) close to Nevada (at least when compared to Russia, Boston, France, etc. XP). To make the armor from the game fit on him. He'd have to be w/o a helmet or goggles, but still have the standard skin and clothes (as these wouldn't affect gameplay). Of course, it'd also be nice if he had the option of wearing his mechanical hand (but again, for fairness, it'd have to have the same stats as a plain hand, and would just be for looks). He would also need a Pipboy put on one of his wrists. He would also not have his starting gear/weapons (other than the standard set you normally get. IE: No frontier justice/shotgun, no blueprints for turrets, etc). As I said earlier, the skin would just be for looks. What do you, the other ppl on the forum think of this? :? Edited by aza0

I'm fairly sure that any port of TF2 over to the Nexus would get you banned, as many that have done so with different game ports for mods before. Having both games would not necessarily help you "get around" legal issues, as you would need permission from Valve to even use the content (and probably Obsidian as well) I'm guessing that both would probably not allow it due to potential lawsuits or whatever, basically to cover their asses from such things. Not to shoot down your ideas or anything, i bet if you were to do something similar (i.e. similar art style or something to that extent), but not copying or porting it would probably be alright. Very well, then how about a skin (w/ necessary minor modifications to avoid said lawsuit of course)? :?

I would think a skin (even with minor modifications to it) would still be a bannable offense (would still be the IP of Valve no matter how many modifications you make to it), as yet again, quite a few people have done that here in the past and claimed it as their own work. Like i said before though, if you were to use a similar art style to TF2 without copying anything, that would probably be alright.

I don't have the talent for that, that's why I was asking around to see if anyone else was interested-w/ all the skins of Batman, Darth Vader, etc running about (The skins in Manslay3r's youtube machinmas for example have them). How they avoid getting sued beats the heck out of me. X-/ One of the reasons I posted here was to find someone talented enough interested in taking on this project.
