DragonsCrest
Hello all Having just decided to try out New Vegas with mods running after getting bored with vanilla New Vegas I'm getting a serious crash. So below I've put the steps that I made that could have caused it.... 1) Installed the game, patched it to 1.2.0.31x. Worked fine.2) Downloaded a few mods, followed instructions for load order to the tee. I had Dead Money and all of the additional Packs running (caravan, mercenary etc), Type 3 body and the Ghost Body Suit mods running for one save. For another save all was the same except for the body and the ghost suit armour. Still worked fine, happy days.3) Downloaded two weapon mods and installed FOMM and installed the weapon mods via its Package Manager, and realised that I needed to patch to 1.3 when they appeared to not be working. (The weapon mods were Shrapnel and Nordic Weapons)4) Downloaded Patch 1.3....attempt to start the game and it now instantly crashes at the first screen. Tried this 10 times.5) Un-installed the game, deleted the Data Folder. I'm stuck as to what I actually do next...if I re-install the game surely the patch I installed will still have footprints on my system and just cause the crash again after a re-install? I'm running Windows 7 X64, have 6GB of RAM, 2.13 GHZ pentium processor and Intel HD Graphics and use the dvd version of the game. If you all need more info just ask away, any help is appreciated
luthienanarion
Steam patches the game for you; and we're up to 1.4 already. If you don't use steam, you pirated the game. There is no dvd version.
DragonsCrest
HOLD UP ...I bought this in actual shop. Steam versions of a few games gives problems, so I actually got off my rear and walked to a shop with friends and purchased the game. I RESEARCHED that the 1.3 Patch worked well in comparison to anything above it. FIRST. Want proof of DVD, CD or whatever it needs to be called versions? http://www.game.co.uk/Games/PC-Games-and-Downloads/Role-Playing/Fallout-New-Vegas-/~r346903/?s=new+vegas+pc (This is where I bought it) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fallout-New-Vegas-PC-DVD/dp/B00272NCRC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311068079&sr=8-1 Is that satisfactory? I have bought TF2, Half-Life 2, The Witcher and Counter Strike Source via Steam... Do not decimate my character Now I asked for help.
micalov
The disk version also requires steam and and will install steam and auto update to the latest version as part of the installation........... :whistling:
bben46
Yes, there is a DVD version - I have it. Unfortunately, it still requires steam to install. :wallbash:You could use the DVD/Steam install, then go offline and not accept steam updates and still be legal. However, you will not get the automatic updates and many mods will not work. :confused:Steam is FREE to use if you already bought the DVD so why not take advantage of the one benefit that I have found with steam and allow it to update your game.
DragonsCrest
Thanks again bben, I'll go to it as soon as I can. The reason why I strayed away from Steam is the amount of rumoured problems it can give on some games eg. Oblivion though I am getting problems with it on X64. I guess I'll have it update via the dreaded Steam  Just hope it can get this mess fixed so I don't have to keep whining about my crashes. I'll inform and post when I get the chance to
