Changing hair on NPCs

This is probably too obvious and maybe not what will work for you, but I did a test where I wanted to "transform" an NPC after a visit to the spa:

 

I had two different base objects and when the transformation took place I disabled the old reference and enabled the new one. This is how they handle ED-E with his different upgrades, there are 3 instances of the base object and 3 references they use. It's not truly dynamic, obviously, its limited to what you can script and what additional objects and references you want to code.
