Stonehenge

Not to all of them. Several have very specific functions. Whether it is true of the pyramids or the ancient temples of the Aztecs/Incas and those in the Far East I have no idea. There are theories that those are designed in response to movements in the stars and even theories postulating early forms of space travel (not Stargate) but unlike the druidical monuments they do not seem to link to each other. Faust specifically referred to Stonehenge but these standing stones, lines and circles are common throughout the UK and in Brittany in France where the Druids were mainly based. As I said I'm not an expert but there is a lot written to suggest that they were in some way all connected to each other.

the answer to the question is no one really knows. know one really knows the purpose of the monument or how long it has been there. different people have their own opinions and theories but none that have proof. yes some may have more reasoning than others and make more sense but it does not necesseraly mean that it is correct. for all we know it could be for something which to us dont make sense but did many years ago when it was places there. for all we know it could just be an art piece

You, much like myself, have an open mind... You say that no one knows that it really is, we just assume or have our own theories...

Stonehenge could be many things...it could have a single purpose... it could have MANY purposes...

Theory i just thought of lol:

This is mixing Burial and Astronomy...

While caluclating the sunsets, they made a human sacrifice..! lol... that sucks nvm ignroe me... i could go into detail but teacher keeps walking by

I rewatched the show... They said "We hope that we never find out everything there is to know about Stonehenge... If we did, than the mystery which drives everyone, will die" ... I agree with this.. Not knowing is a facinating thing... And it should stay like that...

I dont think its right that you can really say "Its this or that"... You can only assume...

I think it's a common mistake to think that the celts built stonehenge. The first circle was put there long before any celts appeared on the island. They just used these ancient circles for their own purposes, as a temple, for worship, celebrations etc. Surely they added some parts, whatever they needed or liked.

But the original stonehenge was constructed by a culture vanished long ago.

Some scientists date it 5000 to 7000 years back in time! Nobody had heard of druids than...

I am convinced that "culture" exist far longer than 3000 or 5000 years. 'Till

the mid 19th century people thought culture began in greece!

Evolution, also in an cultural way, is not a continuess process. And if there's nobody left to tell a story, the story gets lost.

Btw I suppose the druids didn't build anything themselves. They had "ordinary" people to do that.

And that sums it up.

It doesn't matter what we assume/deduce the original functions was, it all boils down to sex and violence.

If it was the druids, they obviously enjoyed having a picturesque backdrop for the purposes of celebrating nature by either piling bits of it together and burning it or inserting the significant holly into some virgin....

man those guys were wierd.... :

I am sure the pagans of that time would find our 'society' just as weird.

Anyway, the purpose of stonehenge is hard to decipher in these mentally benighted times.

I would hazard that it was a place to discern cosmic principles, and to observe pretty heathen girls dancing around bonfires, etc.

Sounds good to me!

It could be of daedric origin also!
