Houses in New Vegas

I was looking around for a new home in New Vegas and found a wiki page listing all of the places that could be used for such a thing. However, I like to display some items I've collected as I wander the Mohave. Things like weapons, toys, etc. Out of the buildings listed on the following page, are any of them safe for leaving items on display, instead of in a container? (I don't want my items to suddenly disappear on me if I'm not back in a few days...)

For displays, the best housing mod is Underground hideout. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37884 Has weapon displays and mannequins for armor displays as well. Also a book / mag shelf where you can display the extra books and magazines you find. Amazing stuff

For items that you want to just LOCK DOWN and basically glue it anywhere and not get accidentally bulled over, use this great mod, Feng Shui http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38625

Thanks Soot. :) I checked out Feng Shui and it looks pretty cool! I'm looking forward to when we can move around any object, like tables and stuff, if it hasn't been implemented already. Then I can clear up an entire room and totally make it my own! A friend and I are making a challenge for ourselves to use almost no mods at all on the highest difficulty on hardcore. We're avoiding anything that would supply us with too much, trying to stay as basic as possible. But I still need to place my crap! XD

What I'm worried about though is that if I'm gone for too many days, would my items be cleared? Like, if I stuck up a rifle, and was gone for....10 days, would it still be there when I came back? If not, then this is why I need a safe place. :) I know that the Novac home is safe, but don't know if any of the others are.

Or, given my current sleepy state, am I misunderstanding something? If you leave an item on the ground after a certain period, it disappears, right? Or is that just in some containers? :X

If you want an immersive experience, try Project Nevada. It allows you to make many adjustments if you think the game is too easy or too difficult. It fits really well with the game and you wouldn't know that you are actually using a mod.

In my opinion, the best player house without mods is the Tops Presidential Suite. Any items placed in the home from the outside can safely be placed without the fear of them disappearing. However, if any items that are already inside are moved, even if they're picked up and dropped, respawn to their original places after 72 in-game hours. Other player houses could be safe (like the Lucky 38 Presidential Suite), but have the risk of items disappearing. Or in the case of the Lucky 38, companions will pick up items left out in the open and keep them for themselves. Though the Tops Presidential Suite doesn't have workbenches or ammo reloading benches, it is large, has lots of space to place items to show off, and has absolutely no risk of items disappearing. Just be sure that once you arrive at the Tops for the first time that you speak with S w a n k (located at the front desk of the Tops) and inform him that Benny will betray them, pass the 3 speech checks (the max speech check is 45), and once S w a n k allows you to carry weapons in the casino, go directly to Benny and kill him. (Do NOT leave the Tops or take the elevator to Benny's suite. Benny will leave.) Then grab the Tops Presidential Suite key off his corpse.

Good luck!
