rjhelms84
I want to re-texture large objects and also make new large objects and have LOD for them. What do I have to do? I think it's something to do with adding a lod nif as a child to my object's nif in Blender?
arcane20
erm I was always under the impression that the whole reason for mipmaps was LOD. I could be wrong but i'd try looking in that area first.
rjhelms84
Sorry, this topic an be closed, the issue was already resolved. You just add a new nif in the same folder as the object you want lodded, and give it the same file name but with the suffix _lod, and the Geck will detect it when generating LOD (apparently.) kibblesticks
Sorry, this topic an be closed, the issue was already resolved. Just FYI if the mesh is a custom mesh you want to make it have a lower poly count than the original. Also It helps to make the LOD texture res lower as this improves performance and stops the game producing small details where they are not needed. Also I don't know if you knew this already but you'll still have to generate new LOD for the landscape where you want your object to appear (this requires a very high powered machine in fallout and can take hours or even days). Quetzlsacatanango
If you're doing a ginormous wasteland worldspace, yes. If you're doing a more reasonably sized one, with a few cells, it doesn't take long at all.

That's good to know anyway, I've just started to make my own worldspace and I was terrfied it was going to take send my electric bill through the roof. rjhelms84
No problem, I'd already generated my lod for three worldspaces before I started this thread. Just wanted to know for custom objects.
