deuscovrigus
So after a decent number of hours of online research I find myself stuck and in need of help. The quest where you have to slay Jarvia in orzammar has a known bug where the thugs in the slums house DO NOT drop the token. The leader simply dissapears and none of the corpses have any loot besides coin.I talked to the beggars in Dust Town, looked through the suspicious door keyhole then entered the slums house, was engaged by the thugs and when the leader decided to give up I tried to intimidate to give up the token after which he continued to fight. After the battle ended no corpses are lootable and I am stuck. My last save is from a week ago and I don't have it in my heart to start from there all the way. Bioware didn't patch this although the bioware and DA forums roar about this buggy quest. Is there a mod/cheat/exploit to make that token "spawn" in the inventory or bash the lock on the suspicious door? Thanks so much for the help. It will ensure my continuation in playing any bioware games in the future.
deuscovrigus
Heh solved it after researching through the mods. Wasn't easy. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1131 and open the console ~ after running the game with -enabledeveloperconsole argument:runscript additem orz410im_carta_key 1This will spawn the finger bone token in your inventory. This fixes it.Bioware, you suck big time for this bug. Honestly. I hate you and if it weren't for cheap cheats like these I would have not continued playing your buggy games. Two things come to mind: * you figured it out (or found the reference where someone else figured it out). Well done for that. :) * I've played DA:O through 6 times to completion and never yet have I encountered that particular issue. I can't point the blame at Bioware for it. Blaming the author because your particular install has a problem is rather...unfair.
deuscovrigus
My install was from the original retail copy of Dragon Age Ultimate Edition. Because this bug has been reported by numerous of people including the XBOX 360 community it's totally in the source code of DOA and NOT because of my install. There is a thread from November 2009 on the bioware forums on this issue and woe to the xbox players who can't install 3rd party scripts. From what I gathered the bug is triggered if you try to befriend Behlen and Harrowmont in the same time. I do recall that I was given the harrowmont quest as I was doing a behlen quest (the one where you are supposed to show harrowmont's proimises to two of the nobles) but I wasn't pursuing both factions when I had the Jarvia quest. Thandal
Well I've played even more complete games than DW, have walked the "working for both sides until I have to choose" tightrope in Orzammar many times, and have done so under both the original (2009) retail disc install, and later with the UE, and have never experienced this particular bug either. Not saying it isn't a problem, just that it's an incredibly rare one. Glad you tracked down the item code so you could work around it.
ReikanOngaku
Seems like the Steam UE disables the enableconsole commands. Unless I edit xml files, I don't think I can get around this game glitching mod. I encountered this situation by simply exploring the area before taking either side, HAPPENED to encounter the thugs in Dust Town, killed them (didn't get any prompts) and just thought it was a random encounter--alas I was horribly wrong and now that I've gone through Harrowmont's side up 'til the point where I have to shut down Jarvia I realize that I do not have this item. FML. I suppose I can do my best and back up the xml file on a notepad and do a trial and error attempt like I usually do with mods. *sigh* If there's anybody on this forum at this time to answer my question on this old game, the help would be most appreciated. If not, then that's fine and I'll report what happened for me for the Steam UE.
Thandal
Yes, the Command Console on the Steam version of the UE is "differently enabled". So since you can't just use "-enabledeveloperconsole", the only alternative to editing the .xml file is to re-load a save from prior to the glitch.
