What you want to see in the NEXT Fallout game

Exactly what the topic titles implies. What do YOU want to see in the next game in the Fallout franchise?

Think something could be improved from the previous games? Want to see something added? Tell/rant it here!

This is NOT a thread to bash on others, this is to share your opinion. If you do not agree or like someone's opinion, feel free to share it, but try not to completely bash it.

I'd like to see more social interaction within the game. I really enjoyed the reputation feature included in Fallout: New Vegas but I think it could be improved upon. Essentially, the only time it affected anything socially was the occasional "I heard about what you did" small talk with the NPC's. Fallout: New Vegas had a mix of karma and reputation in it and I think it was a complete mess. It seemed as though reputation was the game changer this time around rather than its predecessor, Fallout 3, which had karma as the factor that changed the game. In the next Fallout game, I'd like it if they did away with karma completely and focused mainly on reputation and made it more in depth while interacting socially with someone.

Above all that, I don't want the companions being complete robots. If you chose to play in hardcore mode, it only seems fit that your companion also has to eat, sleep and drink. Obviously, they can't buy from vendors like us, but if you put water or other chems in their inventory, they should be able to use it when they need to, rather than babying them and telling them when to use it; and if they find food or chems on the ground that you haven't picked up or ignored, they would pick it up.

This is a purely recreational thread, anyone thinking otherwise is incorrect.

I'd like to see a new game engine. Gamebryo is waaay too buggy, and everyone looks like dolls when you talk to them. If possible - and appropriate - I'd also like to see some kind of vehicle system added, maybe to replace the fast travel feature. Maybe a motorcycle or a jeep, something rugged but that you have to keep fixed (yet another use for scrap metal). And if you have one, others would too.

I agree with jerriecan, ditch the fasttravel system and give us a vehicle we have to maintain. Ditch the gamebryo engine as well.. I may be asking a lot but they should either build a new more stable and up to date engine or use another one. the gamebryo/havok is to outdated it has too many flaws, and the graphics reall'y can't be improved much from what I have seen.. I think its time to start over with that one.. Also if they do go to a new engine they better keep it mod friendly.. What is fallout on PC without expertly crafted mods?

I would agree about the engine. Creation engine seems nice, although we have to wait for Skyrim to really know. If Skyrim does deliver with the RAI and Radiant Storytelling, well, add those into the mix. That could be pretty neat...

Romance options <- Plural. Fallout 3 and New Vegas have many romance opportunities for players of both genders and sexual orientations (this would make better use for Lady Killer/Confirmed Bachelor/Black Widow/Cherchez La Femme, confirming a sexual orientation for your toon).

The ability to make a boarded up house in the wastes their own, with movable furniture and furniture you can buy from certain vendors. Even the ability to upgrade your home with walls, lights, etc.

As Marharth stated, I would very much like to see how other nations are doing, in particular China. I wouldn't mind seeing an invasion and a huge battle/war similar to what happened in FO3.

The ability to play after the main story is completed. At the very least by way of DLCs. When FO3's story ended, I was saddened that I could no longer play. But when the DLC opened it up for more, I was excited.

I would prefer to start with a character that you feel more attached to. Don't get me wrong, New Vegas is okay, but I feel that FO3's beginning was better. You got to experience a bit, if only a little, of your character's past. For me, I felt closer to my character.

I personally liked how you're basically thrown into a person and rather than having a back-story for him, rather than the game deciding what kind of story you have, YOU decide. I find that to be one of New Vegas's most appealing feature, and why I'm finding myself having more fun with it than I did with Fallout 3.

But then again, they can't just have the story-line the same for each game, this isn't the Call of Duty franchise. Hopefully the story will take good aspects from both games, a compelling story as well as the freedom to make your own story in places, in the next addition to the Fallout franchise.

Yeah a new game engine would be good.

And seeing that they are creating the Creation engine for Skyrim.......odds are that the next fallout game made or produced by Bethesda will be on the Creation Engine.
