Sativarg
Dear community members Well, The news story that inspired my last post in this thread was nothing compared to the earth quake in Peru.http://www.google.com/search?q=earth%20quake%20in%20peru So I am sorry for my whining post above when I really should have been looking elsewhere. Its as if the world is on fire and the fuel is human life. So PLEASE: Take a moment to pray for or send thoughts to or love or help; according to your beliefs, any and all of the Souls suffering in the human race and all emergency and Aid and first responders. If you hear an ambulance fire or police remember all those involved, as they could just as easily be you. We are all one disaster or mistake away from being the other guy. Thank you. Sativarg
Do you have a gun in your house? Who else knows that gun is there? Are you sure that gun is secure and cannot be used to kill innocent people? If you own or have a gun get your life straight. Get your gun locked and secured. If you can't get right get rid of the gun. Turn in guns and save lives!?.
Crisb92
Well put, Sativarg. Having lived in Australia for my entire life, where the only people that have a licence for a gun are those that actually need it, namely farmers and police, I have not been affected by any gun related incidents. Though I have visited the site in Tasmania of one of, if not the worst, massacres in either Australia or America. However, these events in other countries, particularly America, sadden me, man's inhumanity to man and all that. While there will probably not be a president with the willpower or foresight to bring in gun control, the hope remains. To quote you in your previous posts: "Take a moment to pray for or send thoughts to or love or help, according to your beliefs, to any and all of the victims." Have some empathy, please. Then maybe this will stop, you never know, Cris.
Sativarg
I'm glad that you agree Crisb92 I was given a gun three times in my 48 years and Two of them were turned into the police. The first time I got caught with a gun in my house when an unrelated incidence brought it to the attention of local police. I had to pay a fine for being in Possession of a fire arm with out a F.O.I.D. card. The second gun I turned in because having it made me nervous. The third was an antique and is now on in display in a friends home under lock and key. If that makes me a wimp so be it. I'd rather sleep soundly. Sativarg
Severe weather, tornadoes kill 45 across Southern US states. "CNN" said: (CNN) -- Tornadoes that roared through parts of Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi killed at least 45 people and injured more than 100 others Tuesday night and early Wednesday, authorities said.Where I was it only rained very hard. The temperature was some 50 DegF to warm for the time of year. Then as a front moved through it triggered heavy rains in my aria. Farther south the change was much more violent. These storms hit at a bad time. I hope the government and the citizens in the affected arias can work quickly and effectively to clean up and heal their communities. Holidays begin in snow-hit China "BBC NEWS" said: More than 3,000 electricians and troops are repairing power lines in Chenzhou city, where four million residents have been without electricity for 12 days. The worst snow in decades has brought chaos to vast areas of central and southern provinces. But transport gridlock is easing as roads and railways are being cleared. The snow has coincided with China's busiest travelling season, with millions of people trying to return home for the festive week. Chinese New Year actually falls on Thursday, but people traditionally begin celebrations on New Year's Eve. Many of those who had been stranded are now on their way home, according to state media, but millions more have given up on the idea of travelling.I hope the People of china can recover and that the unfolding damages from this crisis do not lead to extended hardships and deaths. "BBC NEWS" said: The rare winter storms - ranking among the 15 worst tornado clusters in US history - killed at least 24 people in Tennessee, 13 in Arkansas, seven in Kentucky and four in Alabama.President Bush offered disaster relief to those affected. "Prayers can help and so can the government," he said. ... Quote "It just took the house and everything and my horses and my dog," Dara Reasonover told CNN. "I don't know if they're alive or dead, but we'll make it." "BBC readers" said: There were numerous severe weather warnings on TV but i did not think it would get this bad. For most of the day the weather was normal but around 8pm the wind started blowing ferociously. All of a sudden we could hear sirens and we were ordered to the ground floor of our dormitory. After about half an hour it quickly became calm again. Luckily for us Arkansas State University was not damaged.Macnos Mutano, Jonesboro, USA We are in Starkville, Mississippi and are getting hit by the severe weather really bad right now and I'm surprised that we still have power and internet capabilities. It is unknown how bad the aftermath of the storm will be until the sun rises. We are still fearful of tornadoes here. Please keep us in your intentions.Trevor Caulkins, Starkville, Mississippi USA I live in Jackson, Tennessee, and watched the tornado as it passed less than a half-mile from where I was standing. There are 8 students still trapped in the University, as one of the dormitories has collapsed. As well as 50 elderly trapped inside a retirement home that collapsed. It has definitely been a terrifying night. Trees, buildings, power lines, street lights...they are down all over the place.Meaghan, Jackson, Tennessee, US A friend's mother was hiding in a bathtub in Jackson, TN. We have not heard from her as of this time because phone lines are down. This is not the first time for tornadoes to rip through that area. The Main Street was destroyed a few years back in the same town.Vloxy, Dallas, TX
DecalMirror
In Finland we don't really have much incidents caused by nature. This is in every way quite a stable country. However we had recently a school shooting incident where was killed about ten people including students and few teachers. Also the shooter made suicide. Though, it was "only" ten victims, it was quite large scale thing in here. It was in news even in US in some states. So sad...
