Difficulty beyond "Very Hard"?

I do not know what you were thinking when you decided to get a "couple" of companions to raise the difficulty, but I might not be seeing the point there. If you want to increase difficulty ditch the companions. If that is not possible, get Marts Mutant Mod. In most encounters with this mod, you will depend on your companions' covering fire to survive.

I'm usually against these kind of large overhaul mods but this one really blew me away. Set the Increased Spawns property as high as you want to increase difficulty. It will spawn 1-6 (depending on what you set) creatures in place of just one. That should turn it up a notch.

Also it will spawn Super Mutant Behemoths every once a while. You'll absolutely love it!

I didn't get the companions to increase the difficulty, guess i worded my op poorly. I have them just to keep the, "player is center of universe" factor down a bit. Thanks for the link, will check that out. :)

EDIT: That link is for a FO3 mod...

Here's my two cents. There are two 'realism' mods that were designed to make the game more 'realistic' (whatever that means) and also makes the game more challenging, that I have used. I don't like the word difficult since it can mean a great deal of things, heck, the way FO3 and FONV constantly crash and freeze up, it's already difficult to play ;) right? Anyway, here are the two mods I have used.

Puce Moose Tweak and Balance

Arwen Realism Tweaks

I also like New Vegas Realistic and Dynamic Combat

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34921

The nice thing about Puce Moose is each part of the realism mod is a separate plugin. That way if you don't want tougher robots but do want less ammo and chemicals you can do that. Personally, I use a number of the Puce Moose parts and use Realistic and Dynamic combat for my combat challenge increaser. You'll have to pick and choose to find the best combination for your style of game play. Hope that helps.

Oops! Sorry, I went back to FO3 after being overcome by the epic fail that is FNV. Maybe you should try this:

Its called Increased Wasteland Spawns. I guess that is pretty much self-explanatory.

And apparently this adds more monsters. It's not much but it should make up at least part of the giant gaping void left out by the lack of MMM.

Wait, wait , wait... "Epic fail that is NV?"

Have you tried vanilla FO3 vs vanilla FNV? Or are you saying that because of the difference in community mods?

Cos, you know... FO3s been out for just a bit longer...

Just sticking up for my fav game here. Sorry if i'm off topic.

Oh.. Sorry I didn't mean to offend anybody. And I don't intend to turn this thread into a FO3 vs FNV troll thread. I like both FNV and FO3 but being a person who expected a lot from FNV after playing FO3, I was very disappointed. And Marcus sounding like the black dude from the Matrix didn't help. Maybe I should go get the Requiem for the Wasteland mod :)
