Glow maps for character skin

I know it's probably a simple task but I've been trying for over a month to get glow maps to work with player skins. I just can't seem to get things to work.

 

Can anyone be so gracious and help me get glow maps to work so I can play an irradiated player?

 

Or at least give me instructions how to do it the right way. I've searched a good bit and found some directions but either nothing happens or my game crashes.

it would seem that glow maps do not work and causes crash if the 'skin tint' option is enabled - but without it, the skin will just be very dark brown, but the glow map is working.

i save the glowmap texture as BC 5 compressed dds (my test is a 1024 map), and the material has glowmap filepath, glowmap checked, Emmitance enabled & with a bright color, and Skin Tint disabled

it does not crash and there is a working glowmap on the skin, but like i said, no skin tone mixing
